Go monday to friday, if you're having trouble with weekend revellers. Or just concentrate on off-peak times of year. I know november and january are dead (from what I've seen).

Also, if you want to go to Thailand then go.. it's good to go to different places. Amsterdam will always be there if/when you go back. Whatever you do and wherever you go, just concentrate on the good things and don't dwell on the negatives.

I was in Amsterdam last saturday night, and between the streets being crammed full and the windows being permanently occupied, there wasn't much fun to be had with the ladies.. but the party atmosphere was there to be enjoyed.

So yes, as per your thread title "the need for change..", sure... but there's not the need to move on from Amsterdam completely

i do agree in principal re going summer time.
yes, it can be shite, with the RLD crammed with fuckin tourists getting in the way of any decent mongering.
the last 2 years ive done a summer trip[mainly to get my GV], but spend the days in Den Haag, or Rotterdam.
much prefer Jan-May, then Sept-Jan !

Give me a freezing cold day in Amsterdam to the humid hot Thailand anyday.

But, everyone to their own, im certainly not criticising you Damantor !

well, let me clarify..amsterdam is fantastic city with so many people from all over the world, the red light district is very nice..but for me...personally i wouldnt like to spend all my time there.

the lure of sex and weed is tempting..which it was because thats all i did, but..when i went into areas..like the west side of amsterdam..i fell in love with it.

its the rld that loses its charm if your there day and night ..for me going about 9-10 ish is best at night.

after going this time...it was way too busy the rld...i felt uncomfortable..there was only me and my friend......then you see a group of 25-30 scottish drunk lads ...right next to you...

i enjoy the rld more off peak to be fair...at night but not in the summer.

the reason i want to check out thailand is because its no just got that sin city .....its a amazing ...country full of culture...
and cheap

amsterdam...its done for me..i would only go off peak...

Totally with greenhoff on this one. Been close to 100 times and love it as much as ever. Just walking round and round the RLD gives me a buzz (no drink or drugs necessary).
I think when people feel like that it is more about their personal situation. Perhaps their favourite girl has retired or some other factor which makes the place less magical. I have certainly felt like that in the past and I am sure I will again when/if Nina finally disappears. However it only takes one new lovely young thing to kick me right back into it.
