Extremely. Use the trams or hire a bike.

Walk. No more than 5 minutes stroll.

hi there.
i am too going to amsterdam in august, but will officially book it when i get paid end of this month....just finished uni so a tad skint..(first month in new job)
mate the singel is very close...i may be going on my own if my friend lets me down...and it will be a challenge for me in terms of what to do in dam...
however i come to realise most of it will be walking...luckily..the single is very close.
as soon as you head out of central station right opposite you, there is the main damrak road which heads straight to dam square, be wary of your pockets.
most of all be wary as soon as you go towards trains, director of my company and her husband went amsterdam, they were waiting for a train, and some albanian looking guys "shes described them" ran off with her purse in a flash...these guys are experts..so be wary of your pockets...its peak season.
anyway, the singel frankly is on the right side of central station, so if your on damrak, go right, couple of alleys...the way i go is between a chip shop i believe, or a chip store and pub if i can remember right, then i walk past coffeeshop ben ( i stopped going there because i think it got taken over by someone else) a morrocan lad was there...top guy....since he was not there. the customer service went!
anyway...go past that shop, youll see golden tulip hotel, when you see the other side of the road, there is a hotel there...when i stayed there once it was called ramada...i now believe it may be city amsterdam hotel, there is alley there..already there is a few windows there...go through that, another alley is there accross the road, walk through that..and your in the singel...left and right are full of windows..with a rip off chip shop at the end of one where i go for a post visit snack!

Damanator what sort of women are in The Singel? Black, White, Asian etc?
Also is the price/service similar to De Wallen? I.e. Around 20 minutes for €50?

from what i have seen in the singel exactly what essexlad said.
i prefer the singel mate, seriously...i dont like being amongst british stag doers especially...ok..i am british myself...(london lad) and i can safely say we are very loud tourists!
i dont know, i think de wallen especially is not just a piss up dirty playground for stags..but it has charm, nostalgia about it...walking along. going for a smoke..imo the drinking crowd shoudnt really be running around the de wallen to be honest..
liedse square ...thats where to go with lads imo to go for a drink. munch...but imo the smokers area should be singel, that road near it where it has popeyes, barneys etc...and the de wallen..
just my opinion.
if you want quiet, observation, have a smoke, go around a few times in a hour..then make your choice..go singel.
if your just horny and you need to get your juice out..just go dewallen and find the first fittie you see

I've been burnt in both area on rip off's but the one thing was that I never saw her work in Singel area again so a bad worker there will not make the same money as in de wallen and will move right away. You seem to forget the grey area for weed just buy then go to another coffeeshop to smoke it. I would say I love walking down to singel as I stay at the Ibis centraal so the walk down is normal peaceful and smoking while walking down canal side is bliss.

hi potlover.
is that in reply to me? thanks for that fantastic.
i see from george's map there is 45 windows, however to me 45 windows seems significant if its in one stretch.....i mean the single cannot be significantly more can it?
i clearly remember the single being one alley between a canal and a spuistraat?
and you walk in and have mainly windows either side and a little bit after a cross junction if your walking towards central station way.....id say about 6-8 are on spuistraat itself .
so is the pjip really that significantly small?

They are similar in pricing to most European, Westernised/modern countries. De Wallen is very close to the Amsterdam Central Station. I would suggest that walking is fine. It's probably much better for you too!!!
