Well it's getting close to yet another trip .... Off next Thursday for a couple of nights and can't wait. Slightly unusual as we generally go during the colder months, either December and\or March .... so a June trip will, hopefully, be a little warmer!

Anyhow, in checking out any new, notable beer bars to try ahead of the trip I've found a couple that are new to me, has anyone has tried these?

- Tripel: An interesting looking belgium beer cafe, opened by the owners of De Zotte, right next door to the Blues Club Malo Meloe on Lijnbaansgracht - It's described as a bar that serves Belgian beers with a dose of punk music!

- Hoppy Days: A beer bar that seems to specialise in Italian craft beers, of all things! Still it looks well worth a visit and situated just behind the Renaissance Hotel on Koggestraat. The pictures on the Tripadvisor link below shows a blackboard listing Brewdog Punk IPA, so not all Italian.

Does Susie's Saloon still have the dart boards?

When i go with my mate, we like to have a few chilled out afternoon drinks and throw some darts and Susie's was the place for that.

This is the way it usually goes for us , we leave our Hotel go to Lost in Amsterdam . Nice little friendly bar ! Then we go to Susie's Saloon . We have always had a good time there . There is a big wooden carved door that we have taken photos in front of . Wife and our friends like to pose topless . Nobody has ever said anything . We go outside and sit and drink and meet with some of our friends ( Luke , Roland etc. ) Then we go to the Old Sailor . . There is one of the guys that works there that always asks our girls to show their boobs . They do it of course . The Old Sailor is too packed for me but my wife loves it .

Hi Houston,
Thanks for the mention.
Always nice to see the two of you.
Maybe this coming Kingsday...
Unfortunately I am presently on day 36 of a hospital stay with 22 days to go.
Appreciated the potential back-up in Houston when I was almost stranded on the way to Belize. That is good friendship.
Blessings to you both.
Regards, Roland

Cafe Pleinzicht

Might be worth updating this entry since poor Bert's passing?

I was in Amsterdam last weekend and went to Delirium's sister-bar at the 'Ij side of Centraal station, which is quite handy if you don't want the walk out to the one on Piet Heinkade.

They've got 20 taps, 100 or so bottles and a food menu

Heading home last week I arrived at Central a little early so decided to waste some time watching the World float by on the Ij.

Was amazed to discover the new Ij Hall, and delighted to discover Little Delirium within. I’ve still not got around to visiting the main one, due to its location and reading a less than flattering review by your good self some time ago, but I’ll be making this new one a regular stop.

I've also noticed that little Delirium on the Ij-side of central station. In fact I didn't know about the other one until I read this thread...

Quote:
(posted November 2014): For all of you beer lovers, I've noticed that one of my all time favourite beer bars in the world, the Delirium Cafe in Brussels, has opened a branch in Amsterdam!

http://www.deliriumcafeamsterdam.nl/en/

It's out by the Buimhuis \ Movenpick Hotel on Piet Heinkade and was wondering if anyone has been there yet?

As you'd expect the beer list list looks impressive!

It's definitely on my list to visit on my next trip in early December.

I do like the Belgian "Delirium" beer (a hefty 8.5%). I first came across it in a cafe/restaurant at Sloterdijk (Wissenkerke, Radarweg 236) but it must have been a temporary guest beer because the second time I asked for "that beer with the pink elephants" I got a very confused look from the waitress.

Then I went back to the UK and found it in my local Marks and Spencers store.....

It’s a regular at M&S, usually on multibuy offer too making it cheaper than beerritz/beersofeurope and the like.

Well I finally made it out to Delirium. Not only out of town but tucked away too. Never would have gone here if not staying at the Movenpick. A good number of drafts. Similar vibe to the Brussels one but only half full on a Saturday night!!

Hannekes Boom is round here somewhere too. I’ll check it out tomorrow.
