Does anyone know the journey time for buses and taxis from Schiphol to central Amsterdam? And also how much it costs? Thanks.

Last time I heard it was 60e from the airport to Central.

I believe some hotels have contracts with taxis and they do it for 45e but that's from the hotel to the airport.

Would always go by train unless money was no object and I was carrying lots of luggage. Train is fast and cheap, can be slightly confusing getting on the right one even when at the correct platform... That's my only negative!

Train to CS is 3.50. It takes about 20 minutes. Cab from CS to anywhere in the centrum is about 10.00
Shuttle van is 24.00, but it is REALLY slow, especially if you are the last one off. Might take an hour.
Last tme I took a cab, it was 35.00 from the Sheraton Pulitzer to Schipol. About 15 minutes.

Train is to easy from airport or to airport depending on how many bags you have of course. No need for cabs.

Yep, trains are what I normally use.

I was considering making a day-trip this weekend but they won't be running :\

Hola!
I agree with the others that it’s best to take the train into Central Station from Schipol.
In addition, there is no public bus route from the Center City to Schipol.
However, if you’re going to be down around the Leidseplein, you can take Bus #197 to and from the airport.
In the city, the stop is on the Leidseplein, right in front of the American Hotel.
A bit hazy on the cost…I think it was around 1,90 euro…Takes about 35 minutes…drop-off/pickup is in front of the airport terminal…easy to find.
Again, this is an excellent option only if you’re destination is near the Leidseplein…otherwise, jump on that train.

lol, do people not read through threads before posting? :P

The trains at schiphol were not running last weekend, hence the question. Anyway, an alternative was to take a bus to sloterdijk and then train to centraal. I was quite fortunate with my timing as the whole journey took just over 20 mins - exactly what I needed as I was only there for the day. Also, taxis are indeed 45E.
