I'm coming again to Amsterdam the first weekend in June. This time I have left it too late to book a half decent hotel at a good price in Amsterdam centre so I am thinking of booking an Ibis at Schiphol and taking the train to and from Amsterdam each day.
My night walks can be pretty long winded as I cruise different areas and I am wondering if I can get a train easily after say 1 or 2am from central station back to the airport?
I have looked on various train time tables and I think there is one that runs each hour but I would like anyone who definitely knows to advise please!

Often that route at that time of day requires a night bus from Sloterdijk station.
Fortunately, first weekend in June, you can get a direct train every hour (quarter to the hour).
I'd still look harder for a hotel in town though.

There must be something in the city....I tried that once, although it was an overnighter and I would be hating life if I had to do it every day.

There seems to be quite a few "decent" (eye of the beholder) hotels in the centrum for the first weekend in June.
What sort of budget per night are you working with?

Every hour on the :45's after midnight.

I have to support those who suggest staying downtown.

There are lots of b and b rooms available. Many are private with seperate entrances including a few houseboats.

Cheap as $30 in a small room in a dorm (per night) to $400 for a whole apartment and thousands in between. You can find something nice for under $90. But I don't know your budget.
