Was looking at the World Cup opening round matches and discovered I will be in Amsterdam during the Dutch matchup with Australia. If my time conversion is accurate the match will begin at 1800 hrs Amsterdam time. I am looking for suggestions on some smoker friendly places to watch the match.

Hello Block:
My son and I will be arriving in Amsterdam on June 18th. (Staying five nights.)
The timing of this trip was geared specifically towards enjoying the World Cup in a country that loves their football. The Netherlands definitely meet that qualification.

We were in Amsterdam during the 2010 Group Play, and had a blast.
We caught a lot of matches at Three Sisters in the Rembrandtplein, and the three connected cafes in the Leiseplein: Mokum, Kooper and DeWaard.

For the Netherlands/Australia match, we will be at Three Sisters.
Think I’ll avoid Coco’s Outback, probably be quite a few sad Aussies in there.
(Although, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sad Australian.)

You are certainly welcome to meet up with us at the Sisters, and take in the match

Salud,
-ale

agree with alelover
i too was in AMS for 2010 games, and the atmosphere is electric.
Be prepared @ Schipol to be bombarded with guys/gals selling you orange shirts/orange flags/orange stickers orange socks, pants, etc etc.

Think i remember watching games at Hotel 83, Cafe Remember, large screen in Dam Sq.

The whole place was awesome, cant wait to experience it again
regards

i was also out there for the 2010 world cup!

i'm not a football fan, but from what i can remember, the games were being shown pretty much everywhere. think we watched matches in Old Sailor, De Stoof, Cafe Remember, Ricks Cafe, quite a few places on Neiuwmarkt.

whenever Netherlands played, the place went NUTS!

I left AMS the day after Holland made the finals in 2010. It was the only time KLM ever lost my luggage.
