I was there last year in April/May for my birthday. Didn't seem noticeably more or less busy than any other time I've been.
King's Day, however, is a major exception. It was so crowded on King's Day that I couldn't do anything. I was gonna go over to see Max and just hide in her Kamer all afternoon. My hotel was about a 7 or 8 minute walk from De Wallen normally. King's Day, there were so many people on the streets that it took me 45 minutes to get two blocks. I wound up giving up, just got something to eat, went back to my hotel, and drank in the bathtub.

Should be plenty of girls around. I'm actually going at the end of March/beginning of April. I think a lot of tourists come for King's Day, it's a hell of a party.

I always go in April and September. Always get a good variety and good service. Weather can be a bit wet but always pleasant.

Hi, ninus54 wrote: How busy is Amsterdam at the end of April? It is very busy. Especially during King's Day (formely Queen's day, but since Queen abdication, the date has changed has Willem was born April 27th) Notice that King's Day is now on April 27th. The old date April 29th is no longer the day when celebrations take place. Quote: in terms of the RLD, tourists, people walking the streets and bars etc? Everytime I went on April, it was full of tourists. So RLDs are still very active (all three of them), especially the main one during night on Queens/King Day. You can hardly walk in tiny alleys like Goldbergersteeg and more particularly Trompettersteeg. It's crazy around 1. or 2 am as it's the rush. Very impressive. Same goes on OZA. Hotels can be quite expensive on this time. Weather is mild, can be very cold during nights (think about warm coats and scarfs), sunny days and on a few days rainy ones.

Hi, ninus54 wrote: Im looking to go in april but dont want to book if its dead That's the exact opposite, it can be clearly a pb for people who are scared of crowded places. Quote: and most of the girls disappear lol They won't :-)

For what I've seen (maybe it varies on years) : - April, Queen's Day a few years ago : crazyness on nights especially during friday and saturday nights - Summer, quite ok on July, first week, don't know about August, but not interested that time of year - Fall : as packed as April (but not as much as Queen's Day) - Winter : crowded during nights (week-ends) around Christmas Eve, quite packed on Christmas Day I suppose New Year's Eve and New Year day are generally packed indeed.

i went last april. it was one of the busiest i've ever seen it there. coincidentally, my september trip was also really really busy. i've never been in peak summer so i can't compare to that but in comparison to say november or jan/feb even march, it's pretty busy.
don't worry dude there will be plenty of girls around :)

November-March - Amsterdam is far more pleasant. i think that sums it up very well - except i'm quite happy to go when its busy, cos i love Amsterdam when its hot - but with the tourists at weekends during the summer, it does get a bit insane.

I will also be going with two friends end of March to April 5. Staying at Winston Hotel. Maybe taking a day trip to visit Golden Dreams in Bruggen.
