Hey there,

will be in Amsterdam the first couple of weeks in February and was wondering what some of the better live music venues are. Cafe style, local artists, etc. Might even be interested in playing. Any advice appreciated!

Well you have the Melkweg and Paradiso which is an old converted Church really nice and intimate
If you search those words you will get the official website and listings,
I took a train out to the Heineken Music Hall to see the Stone Roses play which is a larger indoor venue
for bigger acts
hope it helps

Melkweg and Paradiso - two of my favourite ever venues

Winston Kingdom in the RLD

Occii and OT301 - more punk/alternative type venues

i'm assuming you are talking about places you can play as a solo/acoustic type artist? must say, never really come across any places like in Amsterdam - anyone know any?

Maloe Melo has live music as does Bourbon Street, both near Leidseplien. i'd imagine these would be closer to what you are looking for.

Both Maloe Melo and Bourbon Street have open stage nights, check their websites for more info.
The North Sea Jazz Club is great if you like Jazz, depending of course on who's playing.

Waterhole, Bourbon Street and Maloe Melo all have jam nights.
They all have web-sites and Facebook pages.
Non-acoustic.
You can sit in with the hosts.
Will need your own instrument unless you are a drummer or KB and there is one set up. Otherwise you will need your own.
Regards, Roland

Excellent. Thanks so much for your recommendations! Will def. be checking out the ones with jam nights/open stages. If anyone knows of any good local artists playing the first week of February or so, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

The Amsterdam Stun has a monthly gig-list of the local bars -
