Going to a concert at Paradiso next week and fancy sitting in the balcony. If memory serves correctly it's unreserved benches up there right? What is the etiquette with regard to keeping your space i.e. is it OK to ask your neighbour to save your space whilst you visit the bar or is your space fair game should you leave it?

Cheers,

HC

Is "Mosh Pit" a term that works outside the US?
I've always been packed in like a sardine there.
Great shows, great venue with a cool view from the balcony, but I can't imagine someone "saving" a space.
You are going to have to fight your way back in! Easier in the balcony than on the main floor.
Maybe it isn't as bad at smaller shows, but it was packed for the Neville Brothers, Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Elvis Costello. Plus, everyone in the crowd is 6'6".

Mosh pit is universal Weasel although not a lot of moshing at Kraftwerk gigs :-) The show has a big visual aspect - 3d no less - and it's the thought of the 6 foot sixers inclines me towards trying to bag a place on the bench at the front of the balcony.

But the thought of getting there early enough to get one (no support band) only to lose it for a trip to the bar doesn't appeal.

Go early.
Grab a couple of beers or a water.
Grab a bench.
Put your jacket down (do not leave anything in your pockets).
When someone (couples preferred) asks if they can share the bench "sure...but when I go to the bar or washroom you will need to please save my space." No problem.
Regards, Roland

Dutch pragmatism at its best. Cheers Roland. If you're 6 foot 6, no offence was intended :-)
