Hi all. I mention the dates because I'm looking for specific events that are strange, unusual, really great, or otherwise out of the ordinary. I've been to AMS many times, and I've seen most of the tourist attractions. Maybe there is some special art exhibit only running now? Or a concert? Or a neighborhood that isn't one of the usual suspects.
You get the idea. But also don't *not* mention something because you assume I've seen it. If it's great, mention it!
Better to post it here, but if there's something you don't want to shout out to everyone...you know what to do...
Oh, Thurs night is probably taken by the Paradise GB. Unless I get a better offer ;)
thanks!

De Nieuwe Kerk’s ‘Masterpieces’ series continues with two installations by video artist Bill Viola: Tristan’s Ascension and Fire Woman, on view at the church in central Amsterdam until 10 April 2015. Check out some of his work on YouTube. It certainly ticks the unusual box. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg19GwNCJU0

Well, if you're lucky you might see the show by Muzik Boot /Reinier Sijpkens on the canal next to Oude Kerk. Often performed on Tue, Wed.

The Thursday night bang at Paradise is a must. I hope Anna is there. Give her something to smile about. Then have a sauna and do it again! Take the ferry. Have a smoke on the roof top deck. Think of me, you lucky bastard!
The Rijksmuseum is putting on a late Rembrandt exhibit. The first in over 20 years. I already have my tickets. There are a bunch of related events, including boat tours, wine recepitons and special exhibits at the Rembrandt house.
There are some street art tours that kick off as the weather warms. I like to just wander and find my own, but I'm planning on the Street Art Amsterdam bike tour in the Oude West. I wouldn't normally make it that far out, but the city has put a ton of money and effort into the area, and I want to see it.
It *might* be warm enough to go up in the top of the Oude Kerk tower. It isn't open in the winter. Havn't done it years, and I am itching to go back.
The Begijnhof. Lovely in the spring. Vondelpark, too. Hope you get a bike!
Cafe Wau. Hope the service is better than the last time I was there with Dogs and Harvey. Thai bird, de Bekeerde Suster, Kantjil and de Tiger, Temple Daloe. Fries from Maniken Pis after a late nite with Simona.
GO Nuts! I'm right behind you.

I don't know how famous this is, but there's a great bar next to a windmill. If you go to the bottom of Damrak, face Centraal Station and then just walk right for 30-40 mins you get there. On a nice day it's brilliant. They do great beer and great bar snacks as well.
The name is Brouwerij‘t IJ

http://www.brouwerijhetij.nl/who-where/LocatieBrouwerij ‘t IJ has two breweries. The Funenkade site is open to the public. The brewery and its bar are located in the eastern part of Amsterdam’s centre, behind Artis Zoo and on Mauritskade. Funenkade is easy to get to, and the site is easily recognisable because it adjoins De Gooyer Mill, the tallest wooden windmill in the Netherlands. Brouwerij ’t IJ Funenkade 7 1018 AL Amsterdam Brouwerij ‘t IJ Zeeburgerpad 55 1018 AC Amsterdam By Public TransportIf you are coming from the Central Station, take bus number 22 in the direction of the ‘Indische buurt’ and get out at the Oostenburgergracht stop. If you are coming from the city centre, take tram number 10 (get off at the Hoogte Kadijk stop) or tram number 14 (get off at the Pontanusstraat stop). MAP
