Might sound a bit of a weird one, but I've done a lot of Megabus one day trips (overnight bus there, overnight bus back) and I tend to have a sink shower somewhere when I do this.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any showers that can be used in Amsterdam or, like I do when I go 1 day trips to Brussels, know of any massage places that have showers?

Sorry if this is a bit of an off thread, would just be good to know if anyone has advice.

Apparently some of the girls have showers in their kamer. When I arrived I saw Maxx before I was able to get into my hotel and she said I could use her shower, but I didn't have a towel with me so it was a no go. I guess if there's a girl you're friendly with, she might let you use her shower if she has one, just pack a towel in your carry-on.

The only ones I know of personally are at Schiphol and cost €15.
These are airside so of no use to you.

Some skin-Flint, ultra-backpacker, friends used this place in the past.
http://saunadacosta.nl shower costs €1.50.
I'm sure there must be more bathhouses in Amsterdam, but there will be a few where you shouldn't drop the soap. (8~>)
No funny business reported at Sauna Da Costa.

There are also public showers out at the Zeeburg campsite.
It's 10minutes on the 26 Tram from Centraal.
http://www.campingzeeburg.nl/index.php?page=laundry Shower token €0.80.
Other backpackers talk about using this when in Amsterdam, but I don't know what the deal is getting access to the shower block without camping. You could call / email them.

Can you explain the appeal of the Megabus?
I took a look at Glasgow to Amsterdam in July.
You lose a whole day in each direction and it costs about the same as an Easyjet return flight (£60)
What am I missing?
You'd need to book months in advance to get that price with Easyjet.
Does the Megabus have seats available last minute?
I can't really see the appeal otherwise.
Especially if the clientele are anything like the Glasgow London over night coaches of old.

I live in London and can sleep in coaches. I leave at 9pm at night and usually get there for just after 8am in the morning. I have breakfast and my day begins, so I miss nothing. I also don't like flying short distances (part fear/part hippy reasons) and only fly when I have to. Plus it is generaly always cheaper last minute and much cheaper in advance (from London). I wouldn't see any appeal from Glasgow.

Edit to add - I earn a modest ammount of money from my job.

Sauna NieuweZijdssauna @ Nieuwezijds Armsteeg 95 , is near to Centraal Station , 16euros gets you entry , a free drink and use of all the facilities , sauna, steam room , showers, Just learn how to say no if someone starts sucking your dick, unless its a shemale and they asked nicely.

Yeah yeah I know but it was dark and I had had a few drinks.

I have no idea how the prices compare but you might also consider the ferry from Harwich. You can get a "rail and sail" which would get you from London to Amsterdam in just a few hours more with hell of a lot more leg room.
As for showers, have you considered swimming baths? I haven't been for years but if I recall correctly in the UK there were always showers so I assume there are in Dutch ones too.
