Hi I'm planning a trip to amsterdam in November and it will be the first time I use prostitutes so I am looking for some advice for the whole process.
One thing that worries me is that I will be nervous about approaching the windows in a busy area so what areas are genrally quieter?
Thanks

For your first time, I would not recommend taking a chance on a random girl in the Wallen RLD. Personally, I feel there's too much risk of disappointment. The Singel RLD is generally much quieter and I've personally found better service and value there, but the girls are generally older and may be considered less attractive by some (really though, it's subjective for each individual).

If you insist on seeing a girl in the Wallen (the main Amsterdam RLD), I suggest reading reports on the forum and preparing a list of providers that sound appealing to you and their locations, so you can look for those girls once you're there. The Wallen will be quieter if you visit during the morning or early afternoon; the whole area can get very busy at night (although in November, it might not be too bad).

Another option to consider would be a privehuis. They're generally more relaxed and often given better value than the RLD, but again, the girls at privehuis aren't always the youngest or considered the most attractive by everyone, but it's really a matter of personal preference. I've visited Park 118 a few times in the past and had some decent experiences; I also had one experience at Asmara and I wouldn't go back there, although some members of the forum seem to have had better experiences there.

(I wrote this out before reading the above post......similar advice.......visiting in the early afternoon is a good idea if you want it to be quieter)

All of the main red light area can be busy, especially at night and on weekends. Probably the quietest street is Goldbergersteeg which is a dead-end down some steps.... but I don't know if the girls there are recommended or not. Some of the other small streets in that area (near the Oude kerk / Old Church) have less "through traffic" but can still be busy.

Print off a map of the red light area, I don't have the link to hand but search for "George Map", it will be useful.

There are lots of tourists walking past the windows, don't feel shy about walking around the RLD, everyone is doing it. It might feel a bit intimidating walking up to a window, but you don't need a long conversation......usually they will open the door and say something like "Hi, it's €50"....ask if it's "naked, suck and fuck?" and then you are walking inside.

Don't forget that almost everyone in the RLD is there because it's the RLD - it's not like a regular shopping street in the middle of a city, very few people are walking through it to get to anywhere else.

Another possibility is to visit a "Privehuis" like Asmara or Park 118, these are brothels slightly further away from the centre (you can take a tram) which are in much quieter areas of the city - e.g Asmara has a very discrete entrance on a quiet street. Less choice of girls, but also a bit more relaxed, with a massage e.t.c before the sex.

I understand the feeling of being nervous about this........but remember that nobody really cares that you are visiting a prostitute, in Amsterdam it's something routine. Walk around the RLD with the tourists, look at the girls, smile if they make eye contact, then when you've chosen one who looks hot and seems friendly, go up to her door and before you know it you'll be inside, and nobody on the street will be paying much attention. Just keep walking around until you feel more comfortable with the overall vibe

You might want to do some research on the recommended girls, but if trying to locate individual windows seems too confusing just go with your instinct and see what happens.

The crowds can be quite intimidating at times. You have to sort of drown them out, just realize, you'll probably never see any of these people again so what they think doesn't matter. Odds are, they don't care about you anyway, and they'll forget you as soon as they see something else that catches their interest (which shouldn't take long in De Wallen).

Personally, a little trick I use to get myself in the zone when I'm feeling tentative about approaching a girl: I think to myself "you are 30 seconds from having sex. All you need to do is walk up to that door. Just walk ten feet and you will have that gorgeous woman pleasuring you in every way you can imagine". When I put it into perspective like that, I find it very easy to tune out the crowds and do what I gotta do.

Thanks for all the good advice.
At risk of sounding weird I have down my research and think I should be arrived and checked in by half 5.
My plan is to enjoy the services of a couple of window girls and then walk out to a private house for a longer more intimate time.
I'm only there Wednesday to Saturday morning.
If I'm being honest I'm not the most experienced with the other sex Im not a Virgin but I can count my encounters on one hand, I'm in my early twenties and I wouldn't call my self bad looking and ave a physical job and work out etc but I'm self employed and just don't find the time to socialise in a while so have now lost my confidence around women a little bit, so I will look at the reviews and try and find one that's recommend but I can't make head nor tails of the system you all talk about so I may just walk around and if I see something I like then trust my instinct.
If she's friendly at the door then she can't be that bad?
I mean I'm not looking for gfe to begin with just a quick sick and fuck and a nice smoke.
Thanks guys

By the way is there something that will help make sense of the layout and names of the windows?

I would disagree with some earlier comments about not taking a chance. I think some of the excitement, especially on a first time visit, is that it's so open and free and that you have the ability to walk around streets, looking at hot girls in windows, and choose whoever you want. Expect, like any service based transaction, that there are good and bad. There is plenty of threads you can search in here that tells you how to ask questions at the windows to have a good time and although this is not fool proof, know not to succumb to upsells and move on to the next one.

Do research so you have an idea of specific girls and locations that you like the sound of, but I would say partake in the fun of the unknown too.

Also, I would second Goldbergersteeg as a place that's a bit quieter, especially in the earlier part of the day. It's where I had my first window experience a few years ago and I was looking to be able to sneak in and out at the time.

This should help; its George's clickable map where you can click on individual windows or the whole street to see what they actually look like in reality: http://www.amsterdam-red-light-district-maps.com/Georges-Interactive-Map-Of-Amsterdams-Main-Red-Light-District.html

The biggest problem with identifying windows is that the actual room numbers (e.g 7-5 which would usually mean the 5th window in building number seven, but the logic can be hard to follow) are on small plates above the entrance to each kamer. It's hard to see these unless you are very close....and obviously if there is a girl in her underwear stood there it's a bit of a distraction from working out which is which. Sometimes the best way is just to think "it's the sixth window from this end of the street" or whatever, but even then it's something like 1, 2, 3.......christ almightly look at that ass!

If you are planning to locate a girl in a specific window you could try finding it first thing in the morning when nobody is around (including the girls) and then go back to it later when you have a better idea of where it is.

I would suggest as a general rule to only pay €50 to any girl if it's your first visit with her (I always do this). That means you only lose €50 if the session turns out to be a bit crap. It's not usually a complete disaster, but for example a girl might agree to a naked suck and fuck for €50 but then only give you a blowjob, and tell you that sex is €50 extra...something like that. You don't want to end up "throwing good money after bad". It's better to stick to €50 and focus on the positive - I got a blowjob from a hot girl, it's not the end of the world.

On the other hand, lots of the girls are genuinely lovely and very nice and will give you a great time. You might as well try locating a recommended girl if there is one that sounds good and you can find her free, but yes it can be fun to make your pick based purely on lust......

For the privehuis see this thread - http://www.ignatzmice.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16907

It's not completely up to date (for example I think Jan Bik closed and then reopened as something else) but it has the addresses of Asmara, Park 118 e.t.c - then you can get directions in google maps or whatever. Google streetview is very useful for this - you can work out exactly where the entrance is before you get there.........isn't technology wonderful ;)
