any info on frquencies would be much appreciated as would any info on dutch pirates / ex-pat stations. just can't bear another diet of shite fuckin europop on my upcoming trip and i had trouble finding decent stations before.

Hi Anyday,
Yes you can receive BBC World Service in Amsterdam on 648 am and Five Live on either 693 or 909 am. This can depend on where you are staying. I have stayed in some hotels where it was difficult to pick up anything other than Dutch stations (High buildings etc.) in which case I listen to RTL4 on 104.4 Fm.
I'm not aware of any english speaking radio on Fm though.
I hope this helps a little

Regards

PM.

This isn't really of direct help...but when I drive from Amsterdam to Frankfurt there is a US Army radio station in Germany I find amusing. Middle of the road American music and homey announcements for make shift recreational events.

Even more funny, though, is the english language music made for Europian audiences by imported American musicians who couldn't make it stateside. Lots of bad R&B and happy pop songs.

Often the lyrics simply make no sense at all. I remember one song where the hook line was something about the wonders of "Indian springtime in Sacremento" or something like that.

I've heard that station, too, neurosynth. It's in Bonn I believe. But when I heard it they were airing NPR's Morning Edition. I lost the signal around Koblenz.. It's nice that it's on FM so the audio is a lot nicer than the BBC AM stations.

Hey fellas, check this out. http://www.afneurope.net.
Click on radio and they will have a list of frequencies throughout Germany. Problem is, the signals are not usually very strong so you have to be right in the area. Enjoy!

Cool, thanks for the link Luther. And good luck on your experiment of moving to NL! I'm living vicariously through you.

Probably this is of no help, but you can get all the BBC stations including World Service and local BBC radio stations anywhere in the world on the Internet.

the SWF 3 network in Germany is pretty good. Most of the playlist is American and British rock, but there is some really awful german rap thrown in.
