9th to 11th September, any big events on?

I am hoping to visit from 9/9 to 11/9 but have so far been unsuccessful in getting an hotel room. Is there a major event on over that weekend?

Yes IBC in on. It's a big Broadcasting show at the RAI. Hotels rooms will be difficult/impossible to find during this time.

I think there are rooms at Schipol airport hotels avail still. Only 20 min to city by train Ed
