i also hear wearing clothing by "GAP" is a bad idea in holland-someone once told me it means thief in dutch!!! is this true?
LOL, never thought of it that way....
"Gap" in dutch comes from the verb "gappen" which is indeed slang for "to steal"
So "Gap ik of gap jij?" would mean "Do I steal or do you?"
But it's a well known brand, so I don't think most dutch will make the connection between an american brand and the dutch word for stealing.
And if they do, they'll most likely see the humor in it....
