Bit of a boring message for the rest, but wasn't sure where to let the site admin know:

http://www.ignatzmice.com/Adam/

Some of the section links don't work.

I'm not this nerdy all the time, promise.

Yeah, but when you say there are dead links, you should provide the failed pages. I've looked a little and quickly found these little things:

• http://www.ignatzmice.com/Adam/otherplaces/other_places.htm - The bottom 4 locations (Prague, Rio de Janeiro, Malaysia, Thailand) all have different content but have the same TITLE in the HEAD ("P R A G U E")

• http://www.ignatzmice.com/cgi-bin/weather/hamweather.cgi - weather CGI bombs.

• http://www.ignatzmice.com/Adam/rld_tour/upgrade.html - SimpleViewer sniffer page doesn't recognize the latest version of Flash and fails (easy fix - add link to go page if you know you have it installed)

• Rate & Search dropdown should read "The Device" - this has always bugged me. Okay - more of a pet-peeve really ;)

Oh, so very few people enter the site from that address! Its nice to see our old "splash" screen again---we left a few in at different directories for fun---but the normal entry is:
http://www.ignatzmice.com

Which opens straight on the index "home" page. The "splash" screen is gone for most people.

1. We examined those links and indeed found a few on that page that were not complete...they're all fixed.

2. The page titles in the head html on the Prague, Rio de Janeiro, Thailand, Malaysia, pages are all corrected---but you would only see those incorrect header titles if you did not open and view the pages as intended---in the frames.

3. The flash gallery viewers have always functioned properly for us---and we have the most current versions of flash on our own machines, so it's not a matter of the viewer not supporting newer versions of flash, more probably someone is using a very old version of flash, but an upgrade is available, which includes a redirect for upgrades, so we will upgrade it, as it's always a good idea to upgrade...errr...endlessly. Its probably a good idea to toss the thing entirely, some very nice PHP powered galleries are now on offer, and since most people use broadband these days, we could actually serve up much larger pictures---the sizing of the pictures was all originally designed for dial up---as was the recent addition of the paintings gallery (to be consistent)--- and some of those scans are from our original version of this site over 10 years ago. we'd have to rescan everything---and we will. ( we never thought we'd be here this long. time to meet reality, i guess :-)

4. Don't know whats up with the weather programme, yet---this looks to be another one of those "someone at our host did something to the server without informing us" situations which rendered it inoperable. We'll work on it.

5. And finally, the Rate & Search rather than " The Device" wording in the drop down box was used for the benefit of new and first time visitors---those most likely to use the navigation to browse the site---and would be flummoxed by the use of "The Device" Regulars do not, and all come straight here to the Message Board, and we assume they all know that they are the same thing---hence the use of "Device" on the top, and "Rate &Search" on the nav drop down.

But it's been changed anyway. We'll let the newbies figure it out.

Do continue to let us know of any old wonky thing you may find---as we certainly do appreciate it :-)

ooooh! How I love to be picky! Let's go...

>>
The page titles in the head html on the Prague, Rio de Janeiro, Thailand, Malaysia, pages are all corrected---but you would only see those incorrect header titles if you did not open and view the pages as intended---in the frames.
<<

Keep in mind that Googe, Alta Vista and any crawlie looks through your site for clues to content. Search engines can then weigh those different elements differently and the <TITLE> attribute sits higher up the list.

>>
<<

Except that I'm using the latest Flash 8 plugin and it's really hosed. I've tried it on my Mac in Firefox and Safari - and no lovin' from the plug-in. I did try it with the Flash 6 plugin in my VPC, and it worked there. I am seeing a problem though with some sniffers identifying the new plugin correctly. The easy thing is to just add a direct link to the SWF-page - you can then keep the Flash until you install Gallery or somesuch dingeje.

See what I've started. :)

I think you both missed what I was looking at though. If you scroll further down the splash screen you'll see the section links. A few of them don't work.

Your old splash screen is what came up in google and that's how I came across it.

It's no big deal, I just saw the date it was updated as being current and thought you might have missed something.

This is why my work colleagues make me sit by myself.

You're entirely right!
Thanks for reminding us it was even there ;-) We'll do something a.s.a.p.

Will look into the safari, etc., issues for the galleries.
