First let me thank all of you on this board for all the great information. My two friends and I have been there the past two years and what a great time we have had. This time should be even better now that I have found this site and all the wonderful information on here. Two years ago in Dec. (that is when we have always gone) there was no construction that I remember but last year there seemed to be alot of stuff going on. So I was wondering what is happening on the streets now. Is there stil alot of construction going on just in a different location or have they finished it? It semed last year the street in front of the grasshoper2 was being redone and there was a street by the canal in the RLD that was being redone. You really had to watch your step going down these streets. Thanks for all your help in this, Iam counting down the days until I reach my "disneyland".

The city is being turned upside down for the new north-to-south subway. It's going to connect the northern area (Buikslotermeerplein) to the WTC station.
It will take some more years before it's finished.

Don't worry, there is not sand everywhere in the RLD like there used to be. It is further south. I remember when there was sand in the kamers, yuck.

No more!

If you can, don't stay on the Damrak or the Rokin, because the metro project runs right through there and sometimes they work at night.
