I've adjusted the ring tension on my 6 ga PA so I can take it out without tools. I always ask the girl if she would like me to remove it. Some do, some don't.

Beeing European, I don't know how big 6g is. I have a PA too, and it's half a cm (5mm). At first I was surprised how many of the girls in the RLD that had never seen one. A PA does not pierce a "sensitive" area - close, yes. I've heard that a navel piercing is more painful (I couldn't say for sure.)

6 ga is about 4mm thick. Piercings are usually done smaller (1 to 2mm) then after they heal, larger jewelry can be put in.
