i've narrowed my search down to 3 hotels... was wondering if any of you guys had stayed at any of them or could tell me how central they are to the RLD...

Hotel Paganini Amsterdam - Stadhouderskade 68 - 150 euros for 2 nights

Cordial Hotel City Centre - Rokin 62 - 154 euros for 2 nights

Amstel Botel Amsterdam - Oosterdokskade 2-4 - 166 euros for 2 nights

i'm flying out of vancouver on nov 25th... so i'll be stayin at the hotel from nov 26-28 at the very least... and maybe even til the 29th...

i wasn't planning on booking in advance but someone on here recommended that i should... looking for the cheapest possible place to stay with private facilities... don't need anything else...

hotel albert and hotel rembrandt seem to be quite cheap as well but it looks like they are a little too far... any ideas on these???

any recommendations????

thanks in advance

Hi Krazy

Stayed at the Botel before, incredibly small rooms, no smoking (joints) is the official policy although that didn't stop me. Unfriendly staff also.

Highlight of the Botel was the free 24 hour porn on the TV.

Location wise its within a few minutes of the RLD but its not the nicest walk home at night after a few beers/smokes due to the traffic.

To be honest at over 80 euros a night I think you will find better.

I can't comment on the other two but I'm sure somebody else will have some comments or suggestions.

rgds

It's only really Saturday you need to book for. Sun-Thurs nights are easy..

On Bookings.nl , the Hotel Nes has rooms free, as does the Rho. Both are handy for the rld.

I've just used www.tobook.com which has a secure website. You could try it too.

krazy,

Of the three I would choose the Cordial. I've stayed there, it's not that bad and definately within stumbling distance to the RLD. The other two are not as good location wise.

Definately reserve in advance. Not worth risking your first choice being fully booked.

Just my €0.02,
J

Yeah... I'd agree with charlie... was thoroughly disappointed by the botel when i stayed there. Missed the free 24 hour entertainment which might have compensated a bit!
It's the journey back to the place that really bugged me... not just the traffic but the area in general wasn't what i needed after a day's indulgence and the price really is over the odds, certainly for my needs.

Indeed, I've stayed at the Old Quarter too. Right at the heart of it! I normally stay at its sister establishment, the Old Nickel (literally around the corner); thought I'd "splash out" next time because I've booked the Luxer Hotel, which is on the same street! Twice the price! Phew.
