I have been to Bangkok many times and my favorite hotel is the Dynasty Inn Grande on Soi 5. You cannot beat the price or location, it is completely guest friendly and it even has a terrific restaurant. It is literally about 50 yards from Soi 4 and the pleasures of Nana and my favorite bar in that area, Morning Night. I recently moved back to the U.S. from Asia and I really miss my quick holidays there.

Oh and check out the late night club Spicy after 1AM. There you will find the hottest party girls in town and they are all available...

I'm off to Thailand next week, but going to starting off in Phuket.

Anybody got any recommendations for bars, hotels or message boards for the Phuket scene?

Go down soi Bangla and it's one bar after another. Walk down the side alleys and the girls try to drag you in. Choose your accomodation carefully because they aren't as guest friendly as Pattaya.
There's massage places everywhere. They are usually rub'n'tug places for 500b.The girls sit outside. Before long, you'll be sick of them as well as the tuk tuks and all the other touts.
In Patong, you don't really need specific spots, because it's there in your face, but there's a big soapie called Christins that you can't miss. Big pink place.

Soi Bangla is indeed the place. Hit the beer bars down the sois branching off there, maybe a go go bar (Rock Hard) but then go hit Banana Disco, then the famous Tiger Disco and then late night hit Safari in Karon beach. Follow the crowds from Tiger to get there (or just ask the girls).

Hot girls are everywhere in Phuket

The Landmark has always been the hotel for me, but heard that there is a good hotel called Le Fenix on Soi 11.....lot cheaper than the Landmark, any of you guys ever tried it out? Looking to go end on March and still undecided which hotel to book.

I stayed at Le Fenix. Different class to the Landmark. Nice enough, but inconvenient. I won't stay there again. There's one called Citi Chic that is nearby and getting good reviews. I put a report in tripadvisor btw. Majestic Grande is my favourite, or Majestic Suites on a budget.

I love the Majestic Grande, after years syating in either the JW Marriott or Landmark I am saving a fortune here! The only down side is that they only have 2 lifts and they can be over run with Arabs who have got lost on the way to the Grace Hotel!

Billybob69 try either of these:

Pattaya Bay Resort - http://pattayabayresort.com/default.aspx

The Metro Apartments - http://www.metro-apartments-pattaya.com/

Ok...I'll be on my way to BKK (first time) on April 30 heading straight for Pattaya off the plane. Does 1000 Baht get your sub-1 star quality? Are we talking roach motel city or do you need to spend double that to be in a hotel that's bar girl friendly and at least has some of the comforts of our American hotels? Wouldn't want my BG to be scared by all the roaches! ;) Anyone see this site before: http://www.pattayabarguide.com/hotel-map.htm. Is it a good guide for a first-timer in Pattaya as far as bars, hotels, and restaurants?

1k a night will get you a nice hotel. I suggest stearing clear of the ones with Sawasdee at the beginning though.
Nearly all Pattaya hotels are guest friendly. My friend swears by the residence garden.
There are plenty of forums on Thailand. I read thai360 and thaivisa.

And if you're wondering, It's pronounced PattaYAA. It has a massive sex industry, but is nothing special otherwise. Walking St is the famous bit, but sois 6/7/8 (a long walk from Walking st) is the main mongering bit.
