From my experience it was the 'maybe more'!

My two trip reports to Thailand and beyond might be of help when your doing your preparations -

In Bangkok? Like I put in my trip report, I stayed at the Ibis Nana on Soi 4.

In Pattaya, I have stayed in various places; The Queen Vic on Soi 6, The Haven and the Inn House Hotel; both on Soi 13 and Pattaya Bay Resort on Soi 15. Also Sabai Inn on Soi 2.

I chose each one of those because of the reviews said that they were relatively quiet.

Just looking into Bangkok hotels myself I had a look at Ibis as I normally stay at their hotels in Netherlands but my accor membership points expire so has kinda put me off using them for a while. Got my eyes on Majestic grande hotel as its 5 mins away from Nana and 1 min walk to Beer complex which I hear is quite good .

Pattaya Areca lodge and LK metropolis Soi diana might go back to or try LK Royal wing which is in Soi Buakhoa bigger rooms and kitchen just no breakfast there but I kinda know myself around the area so I won't starve .

Plus new bars in Soi made which I wanna try and cheaper moto taxi to soi 6 which I really wanna explore there .

You heading back there BB69?

Good price but remember if you a got a suitcase easyjet will added more ££££ to your flight . I kinda like easyjet very cheap flight to amsterdam just the return flight standing up on the gate can be bit a drag .

Etihad I find them always doing good deals to BKK .

I just booked everything up for next year trip €885 with Emirates . So looking forward to my first visit to Bangkok for few days then I'm in Pattaya for 3 weeks to relax get a bit of sun sea sex.

Nana and Japanese style bj bar are on my list of things to do there in Bangkok . Gotta take a few pictures of some tourist places just in case family/friends start asking what I do all day there .

Enjoy your trip and TR or Pm with Nana details when you next there Will?

Ah That's great . I hear from a few mates say that Eva airways is great

wish I lived back in the UK now as they seem to always get the cheaper flights than Dublin to Thailand .

Sorry late reply .

I'm using Emirates again my 3rd time with them . I missed out on the Emirates sale in July but after the sale they added on a flight that suited my needs so now I can have a longer 2 1/2 hours at Dubai
return back . I like having the 2 and 1/2 hours stop over just incase my flight is delayed for 1 hour or gives you plenty of time to find your gate as my first trip was a hour delay then the plane went into another terminal so the time i got on the rail train to the other one so no worries plus Dubai is a great airport .

As I'm flying from Dublin there no direct flight so I'm facing a 1 stopover or 2 on other airlines . I remember my prices I've paid for all 3 . July 2013 ( 15 days ) was €750 the New year 2014 was €1003 (23 days) .
And this one was €885 for 26 days . The prices cheaper if you travel midweek .

And I'm only using Emirates this time as after this trip I qualify for Silver membership so I get fast track and Emirates Lounge also on the list for free upgrade . The one thing I regret now as while booking online they did ask me for extra €200 and I could fly business class one way but at the time thought I did not have enough now after a month I had a spare bit of money about so now kicking myself .

Etihad has got a big sale now 96 hours one which seem to be great prices .

I went June/July 2013 pretty much 15 days the weather was good . Its was kinda busy but there was a few nights I walk into a bar and was the only one there so I had pretty much all the staff asking for drinks and tips lol .

December-January the weather was alright and the nights was bit more cooler like 22c so I understand why so many travel there at that time of year . I would say most bars are very busy and Walking street was quite fun . I had the thai gf at the time but there was a few that caught my eyes especially few bars that don't get mention so much on Pattaya sites .

I'm going middle of March so it's pretty much near the end of high season. Like high season is now november to end of April then May-Oct low season ( thais do say May-June is mid season due to the weather) . I wanted to go May but my contract at work runs out at that time so i had to book earlier to get my 4 weeks holiday pay.

So my first time in March and with Bangkok my starting off point . Looking at all the gogos and bars my tongue hanging out as there so many good lookings girls there. I do aim to try 1 or 2 pornstars then find a GFE to tour the city with me for a day or two .

I will be in Pattaya last week of April to first week of May (14 days). Using Emirates as well with a 2 hour 30 wait in Dubai between flights. Was going to be a mate and myself but my mate had to cancel the trip, so i'm still going on my own. I've never done 2 flights before, so it should be interesting. Might have a walkabout in Bangkok before heading off to Patts. See when i get there. Would you guys know the best way for a transfer from BKK Airport to Patts? Should i book a taxi or can i just walk up to a taxi outside in the line and go from there? I checked the prices, does 1200 Baht sound right?!

Cheers Matt

Hi matt

Answer to your question I would book a taxi . Are you going from bkk airport or from a hotel in bangkok ? I heard Mr T taxi is good . Never used them but heard good things . Was going with Emirates but I have booked with Eva airways . Cheaper and non stop . If you want more info just ask .

If you are not too tired from the flight, one cheaper option would be to take a taxi from the airport to the Ekkamai bus station and then take the coach bus to Pattaya. I did this a few times. The coach trip costs around 110 baht, I think. One time, the taxi driver, upon hearing I wanted to go to Pattaya from Ekkamai, immediately offered to drive me straight to Pattaya. I forgot how much he quoted me but I think it was around 600 to 800 baht.

Thanks for the great info on the taxi/coach transfers. I have plenty of options to think about now. Fair play.
