Sorry to divert attention from our usual discussion topics...

Does anyone here work in the oil and gas pipeline industry or know someone who does work in the industry?
Recently I started a thread here named "In den kooi" that resulted from some work that I am doing with a pipeline in Holland. We are becoming confused about just what constitutes a kooi. Originally, we thought that a "sphere passing tee" and a kooi were essentially synonymous due to the cage-like structure within the tee, but now it seems that a kooi may be an underground bunker or similar structure that permits access to these sphere passing tees. Or it might be something else.

Unfortunately, our contacts in The Netherlands have not been very helpful. Can anyone put me in touch with someone working in the industry who might be able to explain what a kooi is?

Thanks

My NL dictionary has 3 meanings listed:

1. Cage.
2. Pen, Coop, Fold, Sty. Presumably animal enclosures.
3. Berth or Bunk.

I have heard that term used by some Navy veterans that I worked around. They used it when describing a small enclosed bunk or sleeping area.
