I was wondering, did anyone catch a t.v programme on Friday night? (19/04/2013) (G.B)
called Amsterdam Nights,
It gave such a bad review of Amsterdam that if a 'newbie' wanted to visit, they would be put off.
Crime on the streets. Everything a rip-off.
I myself thought it gave a big 'don't go there.'
If I can offer any confidence to anyone that's thinking of going, but has been put off by this bios opinion, just that, it's not all sleaze and rip-offs. crime is in all big cities.
It just made me angry with their views, there's more to Amsterdam than cheap sex and drugs, it's the friendliness and atmosphere that makes it unique. (and a good f**k at singel)

ROLL ON DECEMBER!!!!

I remember this programme on the Sky channel Bravo years ago maybe early to mid 2000's?
It was mainly centered around to police officers (one called marty I think) and the things they have to deal with in DeWallen like drunks, drug deallers, bike thiefs (same as any where really lol) and a TS called Rachel who was called Bob during the daytime I think lol ( thats how I remember it )
I also remember a British Royal Marine getting drunk and falling asleep in 56 OZA lol
And some drunk Irish guy playing his guitar naked at 3am around the OudeKerk XD

Cheers!

How dare you sir!!!
The drunk naked guy playing his guitar by the old church, in an attempt to get a free session, was Scottish, just like me. LOL!

The program definitely had an agenda to make you think you would be mugged or murdered the instant you set foot in the RLD.
Back then it was not as bad as they portrayed it and now I'd say it's safer than it has ever been, IMHO.

there was a topic on this possibly a few years back now....i downloaded the whole series, and whilst it does show the area in a somewhat negative light it is pretty entertaining. hey, it satiated my amsterdam fix for a while and some of the one liners are instant classics. the cop marty seems to love his job keeping the rld punters in line! i keep hoping to crash into him on one of my trips but that is very unlikely to happen.

after about 8 episodes into the series they seem to just fill the episodes up with clips from the previous ones, which is very infuriating.

worth a watch if you've got fuck all else to do, though! :D

As HSBSE said it was a programme that filled the gaps between trips but I used to (and still do) enjoy watching it.

I must admit that it does annoy me how they portray the city as the centre of sleeze, vice, drugs and crime. Bloody hell you could make a documentary like that about any major city and quite probably smaller towns as well.
