Im heading back to Amsterdam on 4.26.12 and I can hardly stand the wait. This will be my fourth trip to the greatest city of all time!!!!

I know last year the Dutch Govt declared marijuana containing THC levels greater than 15% to be unsafe and reclassifying it as a harsh drug and making it illegal to sell at that potency. Not wise but that's not the point of this post. I would like to know if any locals or recent visitors could expand on this subject. Has it taken effect yet? Based on what I've read online, it doesn't appear to have been implemented yet but I'm sure it's a matter of time. Have they formed an official date yet or will it be postponed to 2013 like the weed pass?

Also, could someone give a few good, nonmainstream coffeeshops? The low key venues with chill music and high quality marijuana products. I was young, dumb and broke the last time I was there and didn't stray too far from De Wallen. Hill Street Blues and a little way south, Dolphin Cafe are the ones that I remember liking the most...atmosphere that is. Can't remember their weed quality.

Hookers. Ahhh Hookers. I must say, I love the hooker vs John relationship and all that it offers. I probably got 10 or so spread over 3 previous trips or roughly a combined 20 nights. When I return in April for 5 nights, my goal is to visit the ladies of the red window on avg 2 times per day....MINIMUM. Back then it was 50 euros for a 15 min suck and fuck. Still the case? I've also heard a lot of windows have been converted to boutiques by the city officials. Is this true? If so, has it been enough where I would even notice?

Thanks for listening and I appreciate any feedback....this is a hell of a site!!!!

Cheers
Dustin

The 15% rule has not been implemented and is not a law as far I know. For coffeeshops, try Kashmir Lounge in Oud West. You have seen this website before, http://www.coffeeshopdirect.com

Peace

It's not a law yet and probably won't ever be implemented.

Imho is one of the dumbest thing i've ever heard, not to mention that it would be one of the hardest to implement, as no coffee shop has the means to test the thc level of every strain if not any at all.

I'm coming on the same day btw.

As a few other people have mentioned the 15% law isn't in force and is unlikely to be in the immediate future. Which is good news for all us tokers!

I always find it hard to recommend Coffeeshops because I honestly think that vibe is a very personal thing. You're going to have to walk away from the Centrum to find the most relaxed and non-mainstream Coffeeshops. Saying that, I always enjoy Rusland Coffeeshop (on Rusland just off the Kloveniersburgwal Canal which is around a 5 - 10 minute walk away from the Red Light District). There's always a chill vibe, a friendly budtender and some quality cannabis on offer. There menu is what i'd describe as old school with strains like Crystal and Power Plant so if you're looking for the newest mind blowing haze then it's not necessarily the place for you.

If you are looking for some of the newest strains or North American style strains, like Buddha Tahoe OG or Kandy Kush, then i'd recommed either Green Place Coffeeshop (on the Nieuwmarkt) or Voyagers Coffeeshop (on Geldersekade). Both of these aren't too far from the Centrum and always impress. If you don't mind a walk outside the Centrum then i'd recommend Paradox Coffeeshop (on Bloemdwarsstraat in the Jordaan), Yo-Yo Coffeeshop (on Jan van der Heijdenstraat near De Pijp) or Katsu Coffeeshop (on van der Helststraat near De Pijp and very close to Yo-Yo Coffeeshop).

If I were you i'd take a look at http://www.coffeeshop.freeuk.com/index.htm which is a gold mine of information.

As for the window girls the price is still 50 euros for 15 - 20 minutes and for that you should get a standard suck and fuck with her being fully naked with mutiple positions (usually 2 or 3). Please check out The Girls section of this forum http://www.ignatzmice.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=16 for more information. Also it might be worth reading some of the Trip Reports posted here viewforum.php?f=14 to get a flavour of who is hot in town currently.

I wouldn't say I have noticed any particular closures of any windows recently although it is always a hot debate with people swearing the Red Light District has far less windows than their last trip and others (like me) swearing there has been little to no change. Check out http://www.amsterdam-red-light-district-maps.com/ for more information. He has documented the changes and the window count seems to be the same.

Enjoy your trip! I can't wait for mine! I fly out on 14th March 2012. Bring it on!

Where are you flying in from? I'm coming from Dallas, TX and will be there the first 3 nights with an old buddy from college and then the final two nights I'm there by myself. Are you a first timer?

Thanks for all the info.

I figure whenever they do decide on the 15% law, if ever, it will take a minimum of 90 days before you will actually see the drop off in marijuana quality...at least that's how long it took me from seedling to the final cured product. It's a god damn shame all the changes and proposed changes the Dutch officials have made in recent years.

I will for sure check out those shops. I definitely like the "stoned high" vs the "high high"' however, a sativa during the early hours of the day always helps to keep me awake throughout the day. One thing I didn't really indulge in last time were the space cakes...not going to be the case this time and wil definitely be eating a muffin/cookie each day....BTW...yes...coffeeshop.freeuk.com is almost as great as this website...almost.

Thanks for all the information and enjoy your trip next month. I know this is a total stoner statement but I wish I could teleport to Amsterdam right now as the anticipation is killing me. I would teleport my head to Hill St Blues and my dick right into the heart of the RLD...or a vagina.
