This is my first post about my first trip to Amsterdam. I feel lucky that i've come across with this great forum. Anyways i have 14 days left till my 5 days solo trip to Amsterdam and just like the vast majority i am interested in weed beer and girls (oh museums too). I am not really experienced with any sort of drugs and actually want it to stay that way. I am however willing to smoke some weed when i am in amsterdam. Do you guys think its a bad idea to smoke weed alone ? considering the fact that theres no one to keep you safe if you somehow lose control?

Balou is giving some good advice. Just talk to the budtender and he will steer you in the right direction. And if you never smoked pot before you should be prepared for maybe not feeling anything at all the first time. It's possible that you will have to try a couple of times before you get stoned.

If you have NEVER smoked weed, then I would get the weakest strain and use it sparingly while you get used to its effects. Or take it back at the hotel even. Plus don't mix it with alcohol, go for a Chocomel or a coffee. We've all seen inexperienced users get whiteys or whatever in the Dam. Just take it easy.

I go to Amsterdam annually these days and more often than not, I am there alone. I have been a bit intimidated going alone, but on my last trip I said damn the torpedoes and made my way into a number of bars and weed shops other than my usuals.

I quite like Hunter's Bar. Nice vibe. Easy to watch whatever sports were on the tv, free wifi and the music was good. Pretty bartenders too.

Also Lost in Amsterdam was great too. Three cute bartenders dancing behind the bar sure made my evening on a cold wet night back in April. I didn't care for the walk back to my hotel late at night though, but my own damn fault for smoking too much cheese and drinking too much beer.

I liked the vibe in Stone's Cafe as well.

You will do fine wherever you go. Just be careful at night. Smoke during the day to understand how you will behave and once comfortable, spread your wings and giver at night. Don't be a mark.
