Or early 2000. It doesn't have a name that we're aware of, but according to the street sign just inside the entrance it shares the name of Oudekerksplein with the larger area around the church. To differentiate it from the surrounding area we call it the Oudekerksplein Hofje...hofje is the Dutch word that decribes a courtyard. Incidentally there are many residential hofjes around the city...you should check them out...most of them are quite beautiful and considered extremely desirable places to live in. We ourselves had the great good fortune to live in one in the Jordaan area for several years.
