I've visited the RLD many times over the last 25 years and the only attempt was by a middle aged white guy to pickpocket me. It didn't end as he wanted..

To be honest I feel safer walking the RLD than my home city in the UK..

Always seemed perfectly safe to me too. As in any city you just have to use a bit of common sense
