The name sounds posh but it's almost like a pub/bar inside, very casual. My pizza cost about €13 but it was very nice.

Wok to Walk is also fairly filling and cheap (again, there are several around the city centre) where you choose your ingredients and they stir-fry it in front of you while you wait.

"AH to Go" is quite useful (an offshoot of the Albert Heijn supermarkets which sell ready-to-eat snacks). There's 2 of them in central station, a big one right at the back (by the river) and a smaller one at the east end of the concourse near the entrance (it's on your right hand side, right at the end, as you come into the station from the big square outside). I often buy sandwiches from there, croissants, pastries, that kind of thing.

A reasonable burger place I found not far from the Leidseplein is "Ellis Gourmet Burger" at Prinsengracht 422 (on the corner of Leidsegracht and Prinsengracht). If you were coming from the Leidseplein you would walk down Leidsestraat (following the tram lines towards the centre), then turn left down the Prinsengracht (canal), the burger place is on your left not too far away. Another cheap place I liked is Cafe Overtoom (Overtoom 413). It's a long way from the centre but if you happen to be in the Vondelpark it's not too far away. I think they only do lunch, I arrived just before 6pm and the kitchen had closed, but the really nice Dutch woman went and cooked me a vegeburger anyway!

Then there's the dreaded FEBO fast-food outlets if you are desperate....

There's also a little De Prael shop (its actually a brewery with a bar and shop attached) on Oudezijds Voorburgwal itself - the entrance to the bar is just beyond that down the next alley on the left (look for the teardrop shape on the sign). During the day its nice and quiet and fairly dark inside, perfect for skulking when you've just fucked a girl and don't know what to do next other than needing a drink.
