this shit is rampant. not even for holidays, but for long term residential letting too.

Oh there are tons of places on that map I've never been to. What I do is integrate reliable information from other places. I'll take an interest in a new city, perhaps because it comes up in a post here. I'll google "prostitution" and the city name. I'll look it up on various boards such as internationalsexguide.com. I'll google the street names, and that often reveals stray reviews on obscure sites. I'll try to figure out which local (foreign language) review sites cover the given town and use machine translation to read them. I'll go to Google Maps, and then see if I can walk through the RLD using streetviews. I also integrate projects others have done, such as the window counts from Hookers.nl. I always pay close attention to the age of the information. New information is given more weight.

Doing this I can get a pretty good feel for what the place is like and what kind of service can be expected. You will note that my star ratings have a very specific definition. It's based on the likely number of suitable partners a typical guy will encounter. This kind of functional definition strips away an impossible matrix of subjective factors. And I presume that the reader knows how well he does, or doesn't, share typical notions of preference and quality.

Then once a city is entered it goes into a sort of maintenance mode. I'll keep an eye out for changes...they don't happen quickly...and for reviews trending up or down.

The map took a major hit when Google changed the user-created map infrastructure. It made links difficult. It changed the formatting to something less desirable. But I've tried to adapt.

I suppose some will say that I shouldn't be cataloging RLDs I've never been to. All I can say is I almost never hear complaints that my assessment is way off. I'm pretty good at doing online research if I do say so myself.
