Thanks. Gotta get that book. I was so naive the first time I visited Amsterdam. It was actually tame, though, having been a Times Square regular since the 1970s, when I was a teen.

The first time I visited the RLD was 1994 when I was too naive and broke to truly enjoy it. I still had a great time strolling in the wee hours and taking in the scenery.

Holy shit, do I feel old now.
Doesn't really seem that long ago, but it has been 25 years.
The 90's were a lot of fun.
Big differences:
Pubic hair. People still had it in the 90's.
Big hair and mustaches were on the way out. Fades and razor cuts are what I remember.
More cocaine. Lots more. I think it was on the menu card at a few coffeeshops.
More Dutch, German and Italian girls.
The smells were awful. The canals smelled. Herion addicts would shit ANYWHERE. You would step in vomit at least once a day.
Not many old buildings were renovated. Some were nice, but there were a lot that were in bad shape, and many of those were used by squatters. Squatters ran the gammut from artists, burnt out old hippies, anarchists, and just plain scary dudes. They threw some massive parties. I kind of remember a few.
A few of the pictures look like the old "Club It" and "Beat Kitchen".
Thanks for posting. It made me think about some friends from the time that are long gone.

I always wanted to find a girl with natural hair, but never been lucky enough to find any seeing as my first visit to Amsterdam was mid-2000's. :(

I miss pubic hair. For girls with beautiful, lipless vaginas, shaving is fine. For other women, with large lips, a nice short trim is sufficient. The labia isn't really that gourgeous.
OTOH, pubic lice sucked.
