Hey fellas, not sure if this question fits here, but I'll give it a shot:

First time visiting Amsterdam this June. Gonna be staying at a hotel pretty close to Dam square with some friends.
I'm looking for some recommendations from you guys: is there anything we should not miss on our visit (attractions, restaurants, etc.)? Things we should try to avoid? Also, any specific window girls you guys think we should pay a visit to?

The Rijksmuseum is a must see. You don't have to stay long, but if you are into the style you can stare at the Nightwatchmen for a quite a while. I'd also recommend any of the very nice parks for a picnic lunch. If you are brave, try renting a bike. I say brave because you have to pay very close attention to signals and traffic to stay out of trouble. DON'T ride while high!

As for girls, spend some time on this site.

Second the Rijks. And if you like Van Gogh, that museum is close by too.

Stedelijk Museum of modern art is the one for me (usually a good temporary exhibition or two on).

Usually far less touristy as well....

The Verzetsmuseum (Dutch Resistance Museum) is an off the beaten track hidden gem.

Oh, and visit Ella during tbe day :-)
