First thing. GO Mets. They need al the support they can get. Yes Amsterdam has changed, I’ve had a pad there for 12 years, but it’s still a great city with lots to do. The weed isn’t as good as the US but I still get a thrill every time I walk around the RLD. I would take Amsterdam over anyplace except maybe Vegas. Once more, Go Mets.

I know I'm fortunate to live in NYC compared to much of the rest of the US, that our weed is very good, though I have to buy it illegally at $100/7g, and the Mets have an incredible set of pitchers, but I'd move to Amsterdam permanantly if I could. Sadly, due to finances and age and being non-EU, I can't. I work for a German-owned company, and US citizens are never encouraged or even told about EU jobs, and my company is in every crevice of Europe. Aa bad as the mongering scene is in A'dam, it's still sort of alive and the city is close to other, better mongering sites. NYC is close to nothing, though I need to investigate possibilities in underground Toronto and maybe Montreal.

Let's Go Mets!

Toronto seems to have a very good mongering scene. I’ve been researching it a lot, even had a few ladies who messaged me who I’ve been speaking to. Haven’t had a chance to indulge yet due to health issues and being busy, but I can probably point you in the direction of a couple good agencies at least, and later in the year when I’m able to really get into it, I’ll be able to give you some more solid info.

Thanks, grimnul. Yeah, maybe in a few months. I was there about 14 months ago to check out if there was a potential ex-pat scene for me and stayed in lower-class Cabbagetown. There seemed to be a big strip club scene and some underage junkie hookers on the surface in that area---not my thing---so I indulged in nothing. But I've heard there's some really wild action going on if one is willing to dig at reasonable prices. For me now, it's easier flying 2 hours than 7 to 9 hours---these long flights just make me sick as I get older.

Feel free to message me whenever, I’ll give you what info I can. Also probably a good idea to sign up on terb.cc if you plan to monger here. It’s full of assholes and stupid people, so I’d advise only using it for reviews and only posting enough to keep your account active. You have been warned.

I'm a firm believer that whilst things do look grim right now, that they will circle back around into better times. I don't purposefully go looking for patterns in things but there are so many examples where situations just circle back around on themselves, especially if politically motivated, which most of the "clean up" of Amsterdam can be attributed to.

I still love Amsterdam. I've had about 15/16 trips (i forget the exact number) since 2010. Despite all the shit it gets (and Bluto's points are absolutely valid) I still love it there. It is most likely the nostalgia talking, but I would visit any day, if I had any excuse to head on over.

As for Ignatzmice, the site has been instrumental in keeping me informed whilst "on the ground" and has saved me - hey, and my friends haha - making some terrible decisions. The trip reports have been fantastic, and whilst most of the "old guard" that were active here when I first joined up have moved on, I still believe that this site has value.

Just my two cents :)

PS - have also tried using hookers.nl through translate, never had much success :D

I agree. I think things will get worse before they get better, I think probably more “sterilization” will happen, but I think once the tourists stop coming (the fact that weed is being legalized in a lot of places now will hurt them as well), they’ll start to feel it in their wallets, and we all know how much the Dutch love money. Like it or not, the red light district is a huge cash cow for the city (and the country in general). Once it starts to hurt, I think they’ll loosen up a lot of the restrictions.

I have been visiting Amsterdam since 2003 and although I have seen it has changed, it is still one of my favourite places to visit. Easy to walk around, go to the far flung coffee shops, check out funky bars and music halls, fuck girls when I want and as much as I want, explore, especially when my friend from Holland joins me. To me, Amsterdam is magical place.

I have been visiting Amsterdam since 1988 and it has always been under an ongoing process of "sanitisation". I wish I could have visited in the 70's. I obviously prefered it in my early days when there were less restrictions, more windows and honest women, bars where you could smoke weed, coffeeshops where you could smoke tobacco, and there was a generally more "underground" or "seedy" feel to it, albeit including the dealers and various other dodgy characters. But will still always go back, like a second home.

I've been going to Amsterdam a few times a year since 1979. It has definitely changed a lot, but I still love the city.
I will say that I haven't been to De Wallen more than 2 or 3 times in the last 4 or 5 years, I really don't like it anymore, atmosphere has changed and overall quality of service has changed big time.
I do visit the Singel and De Pijp RLDs a bit.
But Amsterdam as a city is still great IMO.

Hello,

I thought I would post on this thread since I have not been here for a while.

I, actually, took sick in May of '16, and only started to feel better (6 surgeries and a heart attack) around October of 2018. Though born there and a frequent visitor, I have not been in Amsterdam, since April of 2016, the month before I took ill.

I plan on going, again, this year.....but my heart is not completely in it. Many of my friends, family and acquaintances have passed. Places I used to go have changed or closed and in a few cases, been shut by the authorities.

I guess truth be told, I am getting older and the changes have been too many.

I was born in Amsterdam and visited every year or 18 months since 1972. I came back as an adult and lived for 6 months in 1999/2000 on the Apollolaan and again for 6 months on the Prinsengracht in 2012....

But I have digressed...

The question posed...Is this the best forum? The answer was and still is "yes".

I have met numerous people, in person, through this Board and have also had some intimate times with a few others. I have been able to interact and exchange notes with tens of dozens.

I have looked around a bit, searched a few posts (even mine) of a dozen years ago and reminisced. I think about some of the greats of old...posters and providers alike.

Bluto has done a positively outstanding job of keeping Axxxtw's initial intent alive.

Thank you Bluto.

At some of my bleakest times....you, and the thoughts of Amsterdam, kept me alive.

Regards, Roland

Roland

I have also had a sabbatical from Amsterdam and Ignatz the last couple of years, in my case for positive reasons. I am sorry to hear about your illness but glad to hear of your recovery, and glad to see you posting. Over the years I found your contributions super helpful and enjoyed interacting with you.

All the best!

Roland,

Still hoping you made the best of your time by having raucous, kinky sex with the nurses.
It does make you feel better!
