I think this is a bigger issue when arriving at your destination. I know someone who got through Amsterdam with weed, but then got caught on arrival in the UK (he only got a warning and confiscation though).

I think airport security is getting more lax in general though. In the past few years, I've had security who allowed me to leave liquids in my case going through security, another time where I was allowed to take unidentified liquids on board in my hand luggage (a gift-wrapped item), and I flew once in Europe without even going through any security at all.

So funny.
I can't tell you the number of joints I hammered through while sitting on the cement planters outside the doors at Schipol. I'm a little too old to do that anymore, but I had to laugh when I saw EXACTLY the same thing going on at Denver International last month. The times, they are a changing....
