April 27th...a very sad Kings' Day this year. Pretty surreal to see an empty city on the various live cams, in a time when usually you'd expect to see crowds of happy people dressed in orange and having a grand time.
I was supposed to be there this year, had rooms booked at the W and planned to spend a few merry hours on a friend's boat cruising the canals. Hopefully next year things will return to some degree of "normality" and the festivities will take place.

I had Dutch friends invite me over today, but that would mean taking a 30 minute train journey and I don't fancy the possibility of sitting close to other people for 30 minutes. My friends are not particularly young either and I don't really want to put them at risk.

I'll just wear orange and drink a beer at home!
