Totally understand, advance bookings can make a big difference to the cost. Two years without having been, you won’t recognise the place lol.

Let’s just hope all of these phased plans across the world go according to plan and there aren’t any 2nd spikes of Covid - that would be a catastrophe! In England today they are suggesting a vaccine may never materialise...

Yeah, for sure. Especially here and in the U.S. where prostitution is illegal (somewhat less so here). If the agencies were to reopen and cause a “super spreader” sort of event, it could bring a lot of unwelcome scrutiny to the industry. I do think we’ll get a vaccine eventually, the virus hasn’t seemed to mutate much thus far which is promising. There’s a vaccine set to start clinical trials here in leafland, very possible nothing comes of it, but we’ll see. In any case, even without a vaccine, we’ll find effective treatments eventually. If we can get to the point where people are still being infected, but we’re able to treat the disease and largely prevent people from developing severe symptoms, we’ll be good.

Gonna be very interesting getting back to Amsterdam. Most of my regulars are already gone or were talking about retiring, and we haven’t been getting a ton of new reports here the last few years, so I may be going in kinda blind. Might be fun, actually, maybe I’ll discover a few new super stars!

I watched bits of a live video around some of the streets leading to RembrandtPlein yesterday.
It looked busier than I was expecting. There was a few tourist boat's out and
Even some of those trinket seller's set up on the side of the pavement.

My personal views based on facts and reality are that the full, unrestricted re-opening of all (or most) RLDs is some way off. The evidence suggests that COVID-19 will be lingering on for the next few months (at the very least). For the cynics out there, some research suggests that COVID-19 will hang around for the next 12-18 months.

I have even had to cancel planned and paid summer mongering trips out of fear for my personal health and safety.

Frankly speaking, I am looking forward to the day when this is finally all over.

Hey all Micers! I hope you're all staying safe and healthy. Definitely looking forward to getting back, tempted to book a trip for end of August while I can still slip it in under the free cancellation rules for Delta/KLM. No mongering, but could enjoy the weather and the Smart Shops. And move the flight later if needed.

Last I heard, windows and clubs won’t open until Sept, at the earliest.
August will be too soon.
I’m wondering if mid-October is still risky.

As September is still so far away we can’t even have too much confidence that things will be running again in September even though they have suggested the windows and sex clubs will reopen. Depends on how many cases of Covid occur over the summer, and political pressures etc. Personally I am itching to get out there so will book a short notice trip in September if things have opened up. Also if you don’t mind independents, they could be more available than the window girls.

My gut feel is things will open in September but it will be quiet for the first couple of months with only 25% - 50% of the usual window occupancy- that means during the day it will be very quiet indeed! I can’t see it getting to pre-Corona occupancy until spring of next year assuming there are no further spikes in cases this year.

Some of the hotels in the center have actually jacked up their prices by 10-20% for the rest of the year!

I've also noticed some hotels are only offering non- refundable rooms, not sure why. Can't imagine anyone would book a non-refundable room at the moment.

I think September is very optimistic. Let's not forget this hinges on the figures staying down, and September is still over three months away. The cafes, restaurants, cinemas, etc. will reopen in limited capacity this coming Monday. A month later, the capacity will be significantly increased. Then we've still got two more months until September. Does anyone honestly expect the numbers won't rise again? I mean, why wouldn't they? Dutch culture is generally very outgoing and social; many people just can't wait to go out again; I personally know Dutch people in their 70's who are planning to go out for dinner as soon as they can on June 1st.

I'll be ecstatic if I can get laid again in September, but I'm definitely not counting on it just yet.

Back to anything like a steady, reliable normal? (or a much vaunted, yet indeterminate, "new normal") - September next year - perhaps the year after...

Yes September is still a long time away - in fact there’s more time to September than the Dutch have presently had their ‘intelligent lockdown’. However my gut feel is that things will reopen in September, albeit with limited capacity as some girls won’t return immediately. The restaurants etc may be reopening but I don’t think a high percentage of Dutch people will start living as freely as pre-Covid. Also there will be some outside seating at restaurants and cafes, which will further reduce contact indoors. The fact that summer is starting is a definite positive. If numbers are to rise, it will be a bit later in September or October when confidence returns and crowds gather inside establishments.

I think it will be quite a while before the RLD will be totally 'back to normal'. I am eagerly awaiting! All of us micers and mongers will be happy once COVID-19 has been beaten.
