The proportion of those who have suffered a thrombosis is no greater, in that group, than would have had a thrombosis without a vaccine.
The Danes have paused for caution, they will restart soon.
Most other countries have reviewed the data and continued with their plans.

FUCK!
https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2021/03/the-netherlands-stops-using-astrazeneca-vaccine-pending-side-effects-research/
Form what I’ve read, I really don’t think the vaccine is increasing the risk of thrombosis.
Hopefully, this pause won’t last long.

.... not good at all. even if the vaccine is good to go, this will put gas of the fire for all the 'anti vacciners' around the globe.

as far as I know, one are not about to choose what brand of vaccine one'll get. So this might actually effect larger and wider than just during the short stop...

You have to ask why they are ignoring the analysis of the WHO, MHRA and their own European Medicines Agency? They all say there is no link between the (not for profit) AZ vaccine and thrombosis?
It looks like politics.
They will U turn in a few days, but the damage will be done to confidence in this vaccine.

Get the vaccine, COVID is a much higher risk.

well its only a handful of cases (4-8?) of thrombosis within the whole EU with over a million of shots. I would say the stats are still very good.

however, most countries are pausing the AstraZ vaccine today. new info comes this thrusday.

EU shows that they take every indication very serious. I dont feel like they are trolling or acting in certain way this time. they look into everything very carefully. this is my personal opinion and I def understand people are worried anyway.

sweden are opening up for a Sputnik vaccine license. that means one more large a production within EU, without all the export/import issues we now see from everywhere.

Every potential side effect has to be reported and followed up, that’s normal practice.
The effect here is statistically insignificant.
If you looked at the numbers alone (ignoring the statistical probability) and compared with a similar demographic, you would actually conclude that the chances of a thrombosis after the vaccine was lower.
This is of course nonsense, the correct conclusion is that there is no link.

There is a far far higher risk of a thrombosis from taking the contraceptive pill, with the underlying mechanisms understood, yet you don’t see any blind panic to stop women taking that.

One other thing to say is that the incidence of thrombosis after receiving the Pfizer vaccine is essentially the same.
Why aren’t they all halting the usage of the Pfizer vaccine?
If you like correlation without causation, you should also know that the AZ vaccine is delivered at cost, not-for-profit.
That’s not the case for Pfizer.

totally agree.
Im worried about the growing amount of anti vacciners and what this pause might cause.
but yes, Astra is of course 100% safe ... 17million and 14 cases with no clear connection of these 14.

Summer is looking unlikely.
UK and the EU squabbling over vaccines.
EU late in placing orders.
Dutch new case numbers on the rise.
Travel ban and restrictions pushed out to mid May in the Netherlands and July in the UK.
It’s all going in the wrong direction.

Well, they usually test these vaccines for years and years before authorization. I think the reported average development time for vaccines is 10 to 15 years. So nobody knows about the long-term-effects of it. Fertility and normal stuff like that. I'm not trying to claim that it's going to have effects like turning you into a work-zombie for the super-rich. ;)

So am I. This is not acceptable behavior on this forum, on your part. People are allowed to have (and express) their own opinions here. Can't believe I even have to say this, give me a break....

Who said he shouldn’t have or express an opinion?
Or are we not allowed to challenge opinions now?

The following comment represents a lack of civility that I will not tolerate here.

I'm not going to argue with you. Enjoy your suspension permanent ban. Edit: what was I thinking? In all my years of running this site, I've never once suspended someone without their coming back and continuing to create extra work for me. Your attitude assures me that this will undoubtedly be the case, so you're done here.
