Current state of play is FUCKING EXCELLENT.

Signing off for the night a happy man

Thanks, Busted.

I appreciate reading trip reports; lately, they're too few and far between.

Hmmm, why didn't your post show up in "Latest Posts"; anyway, here's the link so other's don't need to search:

Busted's Trip report Brussels and AMS Nov 25 Saturday night

It does raise the question whether the Ukrainian crisis directly influences the talent (as dark as that thought might be); living in Germany, over the recent years, I've recognized a marked increase in very attractive confident young women speaking Slavic in the cities.

I'm heading to Amsterdam in a week, and your post has me looking forward to it even more. Perhaps an experience during my visit will lend itself to a trip report too.

Thanks Eric,

Enjoy your trip and please do post a report. Not sure why some posts don’t show on the ho e page but thanks for linking my report

Interesting point about the Ukraine War affecting the girls. From a purely selfish point of view I am very happy to channel extra funds to the war effort via their brave girls working overseas…

Wow. That doesn't sound good. When I last visited in 2019 it was a baseline 50 Euro S & F for 20 minutes. A pity the city is closing more windows.

In 1998, to begin a bicycle tour in Den Helder, I had to swap trains in Alkmaar. I knew the RDL was near the Cheesemarkt. I bet you loved that. I did.

I recall finding Achterstraat. I seem to recall a covered passage with windows kamars inside of it, in addition to what I can see on google street view. Did such a thing ever exist there?

It was still morning so it was pretty dead, but with my fully loaded bicycle i was only there to look. There were a few women working so I was sure I was in the right place.

I also seem to remember kamars on a curved wall. That part looked like new construction which was "different" from de Wallens and den Hague. I had a wild time with a Ukrainian girl with a lot of tattoos in Den Hague. I should have invited her to have dinner with me the next night, but I was green then.

Thanks for being a moderator here. Too bad it's under used these days, but don't let that deter you. Like de Wallen, this is a "good idea" and those last.

Ras,

In 1998 there were THREE covered passages in Alkmaar.
Only the second passage remains.
The only curved wall I remember was around the central rooms in the third passage, closed nearly 20 years ago.
Things are changing rapidly in Alkmaar.
Windows on the south end have been converted to apartments.
#7 is no longer rooms, and is now some kind of community outreach center.
The girls are unhappy, and moving frequently. Many are splitting time in Den Haag, or other RLD's.
Some of the buildings have been purchased by a gay activist. He was behind the closure of #7, and has stated he plans to do more of the same.
I love the Achterdam, and spend plenty of time there. It has still has some of the vibe that the Wallen has lost.
