On Mar 28, 2024 they posted this video discussing proposed Amsterdam Erotic Centre and the future of the Wallen itself. Roos interviewed Karin from the PIC and Celeste - a window girl.

I have a few questions and a comment...

First, Celeste is sitting in a blue neon window. I thought that meant T-girl, but her voice is perfectly female and there is no reference to her gender identity. The camera is always behind her so there is no chance to look for an "Adam's Apple" or "man hands". Do I believe my own eyes and ears or do I believe a blue light? I imagine there are more than two possibilities that would explain this including that they are doing an interview in the window with drapes open. Roos, the interview while intrigued doesn't seem intent on taking a client. This alone is reason enough to watch the video.

Second, I have never encountered a North American working behind a window in the Wallen's when I was able to visit about 6 to 8 times in the 1990s or on these Ignatzmice Forums. Celeste speaks North American English with the authority of experience and speaks of having done other sexwork before coming to the windows. Has anyone here seen her?

Third, Celeste is incredibly articulate and makes a compelling argument for the Wallen and against the Amsterdam Erotic Centre. If she is still around, i would love to buy her dinner. ;) At the same time, she is both sexy and admirable.

I do hope that Amsterdam's leaders will come to understand, by uprooting prostitution from de Wallen, they are turning it into a graveyard of freedom... a place of mourning and loss. I doubt that is the vibe that they are shooting for.

A mega-brothel might make sense in a modern city like Heerlen near Aachen and not too far from Koeln (Pascha, et al).

If I manage to finally make it back to A-Dam anytime soon, I will ask about Celeste at the PIC. Maybe, they would pass a note to her for me.

Her english is excellent. But not perfect. I would guess she is dual national, with an education in North America. Some of her vowel sounds are unusual, and make me think that English is not her native language.
There was a similar girl on Stoof about a decade ago. American father, Bulgarian mother, grew up in Bulgaria, but went to college at UNLV (Las Vegas, Nevada, USA). Excellent English, but with some unusual pronunciation that gave her away.

Regarding the EROS Center...it is dead!
City council just released a proposed budget. No money for the Eros Center, no champion ready to push for funding, and a lot of locals complaining about the possibility of an EROS center in their neighborhood. Even if there was funding this would take years to build. With no money, no construction plan, not even money for consultants to work on a plan...well, this looks dead for at least another decade. I've seen a lot of proposals to change the Wallen over the years. They all lose momentum when it comes to actually spending money. And right now, Amsterdam can't afford to maintain the crumbling canals, much less fnance and build a Hooker Hutch!
