I would like to take a day trip to Brugge and can't seem to find the information I am looking for. Does the train leave from C.S. or the airport? It seems to be about 125 miles (km?) away? Approximate cost and travel time? Thanks for any help!

There is a direct train from Amsterdam Centraal to Brugge, 3.5 hours travel time, 2nd class return ticket cost is 47 Euro.
You can get details at NS International Travel Planner

One of the best day trips I have ever taken. Awesome architecture, great beer, and offcourse, the chocolate!

I'm pretty sure you can pick up the train from Schipol as well.

Thanks to all that responded. Great help. Does anyone know if there is a faster train? I would gladly pay a few more Euro's to spend more time in Brugge than on the train.
Thanks again!

I think that is about the fastest you can do. I usually take a 10:23 train to antwerp then on to Brugge. You can check but I remember it taking 3 hours anyway. Brugge deserves at least one night. If you are traveling with a woman you will score many brownie points. Enjoy Ed

I would second the suggestion that you at least overnight. Too much to see and otherwise too rushed.
Hotels would run a cheap 48 euro for two to about 300 for a high end place. I normally pay about 70-80 euro breakfast in.
Think too about an over night bus trip as well as renting a car and driving via Middelburg. Driving with a couple of stops would be about 7 hours though you can do it in 4 straight.
Brugge is absolutely wonderful to walk around in. They also have a canal tour by boat which is a nice experience. The town of Damme is 3 miles away and has some nice restaurants as well as a neat medieval tower.
Regards. Roland

Brugge also has one of the most truly horrifying torture museums on this planet, it will cure you from ever visiting one again!
