Billybob69 works as a contractor, the downside to this is that you never know if / when your next contract is. The upside is that occasionally an employer will reward you hamsomely for staying until the end of the contract. In one case, I received a bonus of 6 months pay!
So billybob69 decided to spend the next 6 months (or until the money runs out) with a trip through South-East Asia - Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam & The Philippines - and will be writing a trip report as he goes along. Hopefully it will be of help / interest to someone thinking of taking their first trip to Asia.

THAILAND

Phuket - Patong Beach

The main action is centred along Bangla Road and 4 or 5 "soi" (small streets) off it. Each soi has around 30 bars on it, with 5+ girls ready to 'welcome' you.
Walking down the sois can feel like running the gaunlet, with the girls trying to stop you and pull you in. It would appear that you become the 'catch' of the one that pulls you in and drinks cost 250 baht (and you are expected to buy the girl one as well) so pick your girl wisely.

Once you have negiotated on a price for ST / LT (LT was 1500 baht - 31 euros) and paid the 'bar fine' (300 baht - 6 euros) you are free to do what you like your lady. LT consists of an overnight stay if you want her to and usually another pop in the morning.

A word of warning: Patong is considered a family destination, therefore some hotels try to discourage you taking a girl back by adding a charge of up to 1000 baht (21 euros), whilst others positively encourage it by advertising that they are 'guest friendly' or 'no joiner fee'. I stayed at the Lamai Inn, they were very good at ensuring that I whisked my girl upstairs with the minumum of fuss.
After two days of hearing "Maaasage", "Tut-Tut" and "Taxi", I was ready to move somewhere a bit more relaxed.

Phuket - Karon Beach

Nicer, less crowded beaches with a much more relaxed atmosphere, but the night-life was much tamer with about 15 bars with girls looking for 'company' for the night. The girls were not as good looking as in Patong Beach. However taxis were 300 baht one-way to Bangla Road - so the best of both worlds.

I have to say that as Bangkok is supposed to be the best 'sex for sale' city in world, I found it very disappointing, I walked down 'Patpong' and thought 'this can't be it?' - there was a string of maybe 15 'ping pong' shows, that was it.
Onto Nana Plaza, again I was expecting something bigger (maybe I've been spoilt by having Amsterdam an hours flight away), I didn't go in and will leave that for my return visit.

I stopped off at a place called Pitsanulok on my way to Chaing Mai, the guy showing me to the hotel room asked "You want lady?", so I'm guessing that there are a few girls even in provincial towns.

There appears to be 10-15 beer bars on Th Loi Kroh (the road that leads to the Night Market from the old town).

Pattaya

The first thing that I can say about Pattaya is - "OH, MY GOD"
You ask Pattaya. OMG! Why? Well I estimate that for every kamer in Amsterdam, there is a bar with 6/7 girls working out of it. Looks wise they range from the down right fat and ugly to 9/10 on my scale. On the Katoey front, they range from blokes in drag to the most beautiful girl you've ever seen. And as for GFE - I can't even begin to describe it - they will smile at you, laugh at your jokes, will look deep lovingly into your eyes and generally make you feel like a million dollars. And when you get down to it, BBBJ, DTK and DATY are all part of the service.

Supply and demand ensure that prices are kept down to 1000 baht - LT, 500 baht - ST, with bar fines of 300-500 baht.

Walking Street has the repuatation as being THE street in Pattaya, but I wasn't impressed - over priced bar girls and overpriced seafood restaurants - if I could draw a comparison 'Walking Street' would be the OZA of Amsterdam, but those in the know head to soi's 6,7,8. There are also beer bars on the 2nd Road around the corners of Soi's 6,7,8.

From my observations, Soi's 7 & 8 are pretty good day and night, although you probably need to arrive about 4pm to catch the A1 cuties before someone else does.

I stayed in a guesthouse / pub off Soi 6 [as luck would have it, one of the better Soi's for daytime action]. Soi 6 bars also have rooms upstairs for ST and there is also a hotel that rents rooms ST if you want to pick one of the streetwalkers. Soi 6 and 6/1 seems the place for ladyboy street walkers.

Thanks to 'Stuart1873' and 'Trip' for recommending Sabiland body / soapy massage on Soi 3 / 2nd Road. My first experience of a 'fishbowl' - I chose a girl - 9/10 on my scale - I was disappointed with the massage itself, but the 'soapy massage' is something else! I wasn't sure if there were extras on offer at all, or if they were included. The Lonely Planet entry for this place ”is a dusty frontier town of smugglers gamblers and prostitutes” whilst this sounded like BillyBob’s kind of town, he decided to give it a miss on the (13 hour) journey from óld Pattaya, to what he had been lead to believe was the ‘new’ Pattaya; Sihanoukville.

BillyBob was extremely disappointed with S’ville. As far as he could tell the extent of the mongering opportunities was three or four go-go bars in the Victory Hill / Victory Beach area with no opportunity around the Serendipity beach area (although he did see on particular cute ‘beach walker’ looking for business). However this website suggests that there are opportunities if you know where to look –

But if your looking for a sun ‘n’ sex holiday, S’ville isn’t (at the moment) the place to go.

Phnom Penh
On my arrival in PP I was greeted by ‘moto’ drivers (motorbike taxis) climbing on my coach before I even managed to get out of my seat. Just a bus station thing I thought, but be prepared to hear the question “Moto?” asked to you every minute of the day and I mean EVERY minute of the day. Whilst there was nothing more than BillyBob wanted was to add a Kymer girl to his ‘done’ list, it was all too much, so left PP after a day and puntering free night.

From my research and observations that I did, it would appear that Street 51 has the largest collection of hostess bars in PP with the nearby 'Flamingos Hotel' consistently coming up as a 'guest friendly' hotel. The other hostess bars that BillyBob noticed were scattered on the side streets across from the Riverfront / Sisowath Quay with 3 or 4 bars on Street 104 and a few more on Street 136 leading up to the 'legendary' Sharky bar. Another bar that continuous cropped up in my research was Martini Bar on Street 95 and Manhattans disco for freelancers. Obviously the moto drivers that have bedeviled you during the day, could become your new best friend in searching out the (scattered) girlie bars across town.

LAOS
According to Lonely Planet in Laos "it's against the law for foreigners to have sexual relations unless their married". Not fancying a spell in a People's Democratic Republic jail, BillyBob kept his pecker well and truly in his trousers whilst in Laos.

After a throughly disappointing time in Cambodia and Laos. It was time to head to Vietnam (report to follow).......

VIETNAM

During his tour of Vietnam BillyBob was joined by a non-mongering friend therefore his nocturnal activies were limited, however these were his observations;
For a country that had previously 'the over-sexed and over here' US Army in their country, you would have thought that there would have been plenty of mongering opportunities and in many ways there were, but you'll be damned if you can find them on your own!
The Vietnam scene usually takes place in bars and karoke joints, but there is no way of telling from the outside (to my observations) if it was a 'regular' bar or one with extra services, therefore BillyBob relied on Vietnamese taxi drivers to lead the way.
The US dollar seems the mongering currency of choice and ST costs as little as US $10. Yes, ten dollars to get laid! In BillyBob's humble opinion, the Vietnamese girls were hot, but not quite as cute as Thai girls and their dental care wasn't up to the standard of the 'Land of Smiles', but their figures were the best in Asia.
BillyBob observed that the Vietnamese mongerer likes his hookers to be young (and I mean young), therefore you have to specify that you want 'lady' rather than 'girl', otherwise you might be enjoying the company of Gary Glitter in a Viet jail.

Hanoi has got to be the most expensive place in Asia to catch a direct flight to Hong Kong or the Philippines. It was cheaper to fly via Bangkok and being as BillyBob was at Bangkok airport, he thought that he would pop down to Pattaya again for a few days. Well, it would be rude not to..........

THE PHILIPPINES

Angeles / Balibago
Angeles is dirty, but the girls are dirtier! It has been estimated that there are up to 10,000 bargirls in Angeles and the ‘Balibago Entertainment District’ is basically a 500m road consisting of back-to-back go-go bars, pubs and bj joints.
The girls, well the girls are very much to BillyBob’s taste; on the whole they have good curves with a great set of pins and their pretty (although not as cute as Thai girls) and Angeles has these in abundance. Added to that, many of the girls are near fluent in English. The going rates are 1250p / 1350p (€19 / €20) for LT and 500 / 600p (€8 / €9) for ST. The former US base a couple of miles away at Clark has been turned into an airport with flights to most major Asian capitals.
That’s the good news, but apart from the ‘Fields Avenue’ there doesn’t appear to be any activities (in Angeles itself) to keep an unattached gentleman entertained during the day, therefore perhaps Angeles can only be enjoyed in small bursts rather than your main vacation destination?

Manila
As you might be able to tell from this trip report, BillyBob isn’t a fan of hot, noisy, polluted Asian cities. Manila excels in all of these categories, therefore BillyBob chose to only have one mongering-free night in the capital. He chose to stay in the Ermita / Malate area of the city, his taxi driver did show him the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ LA Café from the street. He also observed a few girlie bars close to the Remedios Circle area. He did not go to the other well-known area – P Burgos Street in Makati.

Puerto Galeria (Sabang Beach)
Apart from Subric, it appeared that Sabang Beach was one of the closest beaches to Manila with ‘nightlife’, so BillyBob headed there. Sabang Beach (not that there is a beach) is primarily a scuba dive town, with about five or six ‘discos’ ranging from a full-on go-go bar to a genuine disco where freelancers, ‘hookers on holiday’ and even a few regular Filipino girls hang out for a good time. Looks wise, they ranged from a 5/10 to 8/10 and prices ranged from “book a diving trip with me and I’ll arrange a free girl for you” (no, I’m not joking!) to prices similar to Angeles. There didn’t appear to be any day-time action – which is strange, as there seemed nothing else to do there apart from dive during the day. The ‘Big Apple’ resort might be worth checking out as it had a popular bar and it appeared that some of the ‘hookers on holiday’ were also guests there.
Overall, the place can’t be recommended as a P2P destination on its own, unless diving is also your thing.

Boracay Island (White Beach)
The holiday destination of choice for most Filipinos and there were some top Filipino and Korean tottie on the beach, unfortunately none of it was ‘for hire’. Research on the ISG forum suggests that Charlins bar might be good for freelancers, however BillyBob didn’t spot any there. He was proposed by one freelancer on the beach who offered 300p (€5) for ST, but he declined suspecting some kind of scam. White Beach is a truly stunning location, but if you want a bit of legover whilst your there, probably best to ‘bring your own’ from Angeles or Manila.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
BillyBob was hoping to push back the mongering frontiers and discover previously untapped sources of hotties, but in the end, he had to decide that Thailand still reigns supreme as the No.1 mongering destination in SE Asia – the girls are cheap n’ cute, rip-offs are rare (unless you marry one) and service excellent – and Pattaya has got to come out on top – simply as you can walk back from the beach at 4pm and have a choice of over 100 girls looking to go ST with you for a mere 16 euros.
The Philippines is well worth a visit, particularly if you value the ability to converse with the girl that you are about to bone. Although it is more expensive and the country is generally not as pleasant.
Vietnam has the potential to develop a good scene, we’ll have to wait and see. As for Cambodia and Laos; steer well clear.
You might think that as BillyBob has been spoilt by 3 months in SE Asia, that his Amsterdam days are over, but for him Amsterdam is THE mongering destination in the world. Where else can you have the variety of Bulgarian Sonia before breakfast, feast on Polish Annas’ breasts for lunch, drink from Mai Thai’s furry cup as afternoon refreshments, have a Dutch smorgasbord in the evening and round the night off with ‘a bit of dark’ from the Oude Kerk?

Now you've got me worried, it is not something that I thought about!

The girls that I have picked up so far, have been working from a bar, so if I do get robbed, I think that I have some kind of insurance policy by going back to the bar owner to 'complain'.

Walking down Patpong is like walking down Bourbon Street in New Orleans- it's a tourist trap. I usually find Nana to have three or four decent clubs. If you have another night in BKK head over to the bars on Soi Cowboy.

Don't leave the Kingdom without getting a soapy massage in Pattaya at Sabai Dee MP or Sabailand- they are both on second road. Better yet get two girls at the same time for a sandwich massage. In BKK I like Cupidy MP it is in the basement of Plaza Entertainment. Tell the taxi driver to drop you off at Plaza Ent otherwise the MP pays a taxi fee of 500-1000B. Meaning you pay the taxi fee.

It will be nice to get to the Philippines where you can actually speak some English once in awhile. Try and make it to LA Cafe one night in Manila- freelancers so no bar fine. If you find yourself at a loose end some afternoon head over to lolitas, its on soi lk metro just off second road on the right after mikes shopping mall. Its a bj bar and lets just say there very good at what they do, its all bbbj cim. Its worth a look if only the once. its 700 baht if i remember correctly.

Great report! You are crazy enough to visit Cambodia! That is one country I would not visit unless I had a group of mercenaries protecting me. I know California in well known for the "Crips" (blue) & "Bloods" (red) gangsters, but everybody was scared of the crazy Cambodians. There was just a certain look in their eyes that developed from the "killing fields" that made the toughest gang bangers nervous.

Thanks for that video link. That's a very good depiction of Pattaya, except that music is not playing all the time! Yes you can expect Pattaya to be like that... there are so many cute girls that you just become immune to it after awhile. Are you still thinking about going?

Regarding getting ripped off with LT overnighters: almost never happens, and probably only when you use less than average good judgement, and/or you treat the girls like shit or with total disrespect. I've been with about 60 girls in Thailand, and have never been ripped off. 95% of them are sweethearts, and then you get the occasional below average experience. I've had up to three freelancers in my room at once, and there have been times where I thought I shoud have been ripped off - but it never has happened. Maybe I've just been lucky. You just have to go there to experience what I mean.

Billybob, I'd recommend giving Bangkok another try. Patpong is a tourist trap, as Trip says, and Nana Plaza has seen better days. Soi Cowboy is the place to be for go go bars these days. But even this does not begin to penetrate the multi-layered assualt of sexual venues/options available in Bangkok, including freelancer bars, soapies, oily massages, Korean and Japanese style massage places, etc. Pattaya is awesome, but I think Bangkok is more diverse, which makes it even better for me.

Patpong in Bangkok (BKK) is NOT the place you go to for real mongering action...thats a rip off place, maybe good for a few beers and some ago-go dancers for a feel here and there but definitely not for sex.

In BKK if you want to go for the action, head down to the so called entertainment complexes. These are actually huge and well decorated whorehouse, usually with easily more than 30 gals. Usually there are the window gals, then there is another section where they housed the so called models category. Window gals are cheaper...the models are sometime part time working gals so even though you pay more for them, they may not necessarily give better service.

Places to check out are Caesars, Poseidon, Utopia, The PLaza....there is one place where the gal puts a gel like subsatnce all over you while you are seated in a chair and then proceed to lick it off before blowing you, cant remember what that place is called.

Basically where you want to head to is the Ratchada area. That"s where all the action is at. This area has the most number of entertainment complex.

If you want to see really babelicious Thai women, you need to head down to what is called a Gentleman"s club. Here hostesses wull keep you company, some are really beautiful...but sex is not a definite here. Usually those who are based in BKK stands a better chance with these gals...as most of them in Gentleman"s clubs are not looking for a one off.

For info on BKK check out www.ukbkk.com there is also info on Pattaya / other areas in LOS as well. When you go back to BKK, try the Bier Garten on Sukhumvit Soi 7 and some of the bars in Soi Nana like the Golden Bar, Big Dogs or Lucky Luke's (just inside NEP).

Most Thai cities do have a bar scene but outside of BKK & Pattaya these are relatively small.

If you go back to Pattaya check out Cloud Nine Bar in Soi 8 if you like classic rock music, their house band are really good and make a great alternative to the usual dance /trance shite booming out in most bars.

In room safety: This is not usually a problem but as others have said can happen, I have never in 20+ visits had anything nicked and all good hotels have in room safes. All hotels are now required by law to ask for your temporary teerak's ID and my last hotel in Pattaya (Pattaya Bay Resort) called me each morning when my girls left to ask if everything was ok and if so they would give her the ID back. Worked like a charm :-)

most of these massage parlors have a double pricing standard: one for thais/asians and another one for farang/westerners. Of course we are the ones that have to pay more.....;-)
So before you go there, make sure what the prices are and act like you've been there millions of times. This way you won't get ripped off too bad.

In fact Colonze2 that I mentioned above is one of the few, if not the only MP that has a uniform price structure, so that would be my recommendation for a newbie to the BKK MP-scene.

Cambodia definetly still has a 'Wild West' feel about it. I was told my a long-term ex-pat there "at least they don't rob you at gunpoint anymore"!
All the girls in Asia are cute. However, now I've been in SE Asia for a few weeks, I can spot some differences between the different nationalities / ethnicities and I would say that whilst the Cambodian girls are still cute, they are not as cute as the Thai girls or have the figures of the Vietnamese girls.
