I'm in Bangkok right now for the very first time, staying at a hotel near, but not too near, Nana Plaza. A trip report will follow when I come back. I cannot seem to be able to write live reports although I can answer any questions you guys might have, bearing in mind that this is my first time in Thailand.

I arrived rather late in the afternoon and so I have only been to Nana Plaza so far. Tried to look for Soi Cowboy but got lost and turned back because I was very tired. I really need to get a sim card for my smartphone due to my very poor sense of direction and the fact that I rely a lot on Google Maps and GPS.

I also did my first barfine. It was okay. One thing I can say is that it is very hard to negotiate with the girls in the bar when the music is playing too loud and she does not speak much English and I don't speak much Thai. I also forgot to memorize the names of the ladyboy bars so that I can avoid them (because it's not my thing). Another thing I learned is that I need more towels in my hotel room if I want to bring more girls there tomorrow night.

Still not sure if I want to go sightseeing around Bangkok during my stay. Maybe I will do that on my next trip, although I am interested in watching a live muay thai fight.

You lucky, lucky baastard.
I was there a month ago and need to file a trip report at some point. Would be interested to read a newbie's TR.

To get to Soi from Nana, cross over Shukhumvit Road and walk 'downhill' until you get to the major cross roads and Soi Cowboy is about a 100 yards on the left. It is a good 20 min walk between the two. Otherwise take the BTS to Asok station.

Once you have been in Thailand for a while, you can spot them a mile off. For a newbie's rule, I would say that if 'she' is over 5ft 7" it is a good chance that she is a ladyboy.

Only okay?

Bangkok isn't just about mongering you know! If you have time I would at least try and visit the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. Lumpini Park is good for kick boxing. The majority of the crowd are thai locals (which is a spectacle in itself). Why don't you get your barfine to act as your tourguide? Many are happy to go this for extra baht (you might have to pay the bar another barfine as well for taking her out of the bar)

You just staying in Bangkok? Thailand has much more offer that it's capital city.

Thanks for the advice billybob. I had been thinking of getting my barfine to act as a day tour guide but I am still having trouble finding someone i can converse with in English. And Thai is a very very difficult language to learn, it seems. I think I will have better luck asking the masseuses.

I finally found Soi Cowboy and I also got a 1-week data plan for my smartphone to use the GPS (450B unlimited data). Went to a few massage parlors just now based on what was recommended at a Bangkok mongering website. I am beginning to actually prefer parlors to bars because the loud music gives me a headache.

I moved from London a few months ago and I actually reside now at a country neighboring Thailand, with a plane ride that is less than an hour away. So I will have plenty of time to explore Bangkok and the rest of the country on other trips, which I imagine will be frequent (yes i am a lucky lucky lucky bastard). This introductory trip will only be for mongering I'm afraid. My next trip will be about muay thai!

While bar-hopping in the Bangkok RLDs I gradually came to discover that my taste in Thai girls is different from most of my fellow farangs and closer to what the Thai locals like. I am not sure why but perhaps it is because I spent a lot of my formative years in Asia and have been domesticated to their ‘version’ of female beauty (Our sexual desires are never our own). I have no preference for whiter or darker skin but I seem to be partial to Thai girls with either pan-Asian or Northeast Asian features.

This is one of the reasons why the gogo bar scene has been pretty much a disappointment to me. A large majority of the customers are not Thai and so the selection of girls cater to the typical farang’s taste. Moreover, the specific bars catering to Japanese, Chinese and Korean clientele (all of whom are said to be big spenders), seem to be, for whatever reason, filled with a lot of jaded girls and ripoffs.

I might have been unlucky and lack the punting skills as a Bangkok newbie, but all the four girls I barfined have been ripoffs and were not interested in providing good service. It is difficult to negotiate successfully with the mamasan and the girl with all the loud music playing, which sounds even more eardrum-bursting when the bar is small and you cannot avoid sitting within 2 meters from the speakers. Despite my punting experience outside of Thailand, I am completely out of my depth in trying to be charming when I cannot speak much Thai and most of the girls cannot speak much English. Any attempt at friendly rapport or emotional intimacy is bound to have limited success. The language barrier also means that the girls can pretend not to understand my request. I might be wrong but I find it hard to believe that a gogo girl who has been working for several months, and who sees a lot of farangs, does not understand what ‘a**l’ means.

This is why I have come to prefer the soapy massage parlors. Even though none of the services there ever reached the level of, say, the goddess Agnieszka, my visits to four parlors in Bangkok were the highlights of my trip. Unlike at gogo bars, the girls in soapies do not kill the mood by interrupting you every 1 minute to ask for more money. You get to see them bathing, even sometimes helping them bathe, which minimizes the possibility of any BO or smelly pussies, a turn-off for me. The girls there are more my type, since their main customer base are Thai locals. There is also better quality-control of the services compared to the bars, maybe because the parlors do not have a second income-stream from the expensive drinks, and maybe because the Thai customers have a better leverage with the establishment and have the power to demand improvement in services.

I already knew about it but I still cannot help but feel surprised at how large and luxurious these parlor looked, especially the ones in Ratchada, which reminded me of the large casinos in Las Vegas, with rooms resembling those in 5-star hotels. The interior of The Lord along Soi 7 resembled that of a decadent Roman palace.

To end my punting adventures, for obvious reasons I stopped at Amsterdam near Pha Ram 9 MRT, although they seemed to have dispensed with fishbowls altogether. The girl was demure and very tight. She told me several times that I was large, even for a farang. This comment delighted me at the time, even though I knew I am only the exact average of 5 ½ inches.

Thanks for the continuing trip report Izziehurix.

Sorry to read that the mongering isn't going to well.

Meeth makes an excellent response in this topic with regard to the 'hassles' of mongering with Thailand -
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=21036&p=143323#p143323

I don't frequent go-go bars or the same bars as the big spending Koreans and Japanese, but have read many reports that the girls often get used to the high price / poor service that it acceptable to the clients at those types of bars.

I always go to beer bars and pick-up freelancers and - providing that I fully negotiate beforehand - I usually get pick up a great girl. Always a girl with a Issan look and rarely a 10/10 stunner, but nevertheless they usually turn out to be a good service provider.

Perhaps you ought to pop into the BKK Bier Garden one day and see if anything catches your eye? Or how about heading to Pattaya, there are so many beer bars there that you can usually find a quiet one?

Allot of mongerers that dislike the limited conversation that you can have with Thai girls, often head to the Philippines as most girls there are fluent in English.

As for the girls complaining that your cock is too big, I can't give you any advice on that :-) (apart from use KY gel)

Thanks for the very kind advice. I guess it will take time for me to adjust to the different situation in Thailand. I will try the beer gardens next time, although I am a bit hesitant with freelancers due to the risks involved so I might stick with the waitresses for the time being. The other areas like Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai look interesting too.

The huge difference between what farangs and Asian men like when it comes to Thai girls, I find this to be a very interesting topic. It is said that, statistically speaking, men in agrarian societies prefer light-skinned girls while the opposite is true in industrial societies. Men in poor countries also prefer curvier girls and I read somewhere that those from working-class backgrounds have a statistical predilection for lasses with big breasts.

As for me, I have come to realize that I often go punting not just to get rid of excess fluids but also to experience momentary intimacy and release some pent-up desires. This is difficult to achieve if there are communication problems. On the other hand, the country has such a diverse and huge mongering scene that there is something for everyone. My principle for the time being is "If you don't like Thailand, it's your fault", although there is no reason for me to try the Philippines soon!

One thing I noticed in my travels in Bangkok, Nana tends to be the better venue than Soi Cowboy. The latter has changed considerably and the bad-boy corners are few and far between. Because of the better looks of the street, it's been invaded with richer Asian tourists looking for company and little more, hence the proclivity of the area to be a haven for coyote dancers. Beautiful, but boring.

If you want more friendly company, and insist on staying in Bangkok, head to Nana and go to Angelwitch or Spankys - since they are the most popular I often find a wider selection of girls there. The city is rapidly urbanising and the ability to randomly pull a girl from a department store or a student is fast disappearing. For those you're better hooking up on Thai Love Links. Just post you're in town and wouldn't mind a guide, and you'll likely have many more girls of your taste to choose from.

All that said, go to Patts. Pattaya is a haven for northern girls to get into gogo or the beerbars. My taste leans towards girls of the Udon Thani area - a bit more Chinese influence. Plus the rates are lower (if you don't take gogos from the bigger Walking Street venues) and the selection of bars, cafes, gogos is vast. I've been there a dozen times in the past decade, and while it's gotten more expensive (what hasn't) you can stil have a good LT for 2000B. If you can talk her into being a tour guide, usually 1000B a day and food/drink is about what you'd lay out.

Don't bother with Chaing Mai - it's a dead zone. No - repeat - no mongering there seems to go on any more. Nice hills, bad air, interesting old Chinatown, but d-r-y.

I echo what Woofiee said get yourself to Pattaya, spoilt for choice with bars and girls. Pattaya is the number 1 destination for mongering and a great selection of women for a fraction of the price they ask for in Bangkok. Read some of the forums online such as Pattayaaddicts.com for good information. I will be spending a few weeks there in February before moving onto Koh Samui an island I can recommend for relaxing but still having a fair selection of women but nothing on the scale of Pattaya.

I'm now in Bangkok again - my second trip. I am beginning to learn to love the place and will write about this upon returning. I don't think i will have time now for Pattaya, which will probably be the destination for my third Thailand trip.

Thanks for the recommendations. Unfortunately I have decided to avoid Nana altogether from now on due to, shall we say, a 'traumatic' incident. I have nothing against TS's but I am definitely not into them sexually. Don't ask me how I personally came to learn this but it has become extremely difficult for me to distinguish between female dancers and post-op ladyboys at Nana. I, of course, avoided the five official ladyboy bars: Obsession, Temptations, Cascade, Casanova and Voodoo. But there are a lot of post-op katoeys disguising themselves in the other bars. And they look so very real, even their post-op vaginas, missing Adam apples, and altered bodily proportions! And so beautiful too, especially the ones at Hollywood (half female, half post-ops)! And they lie to you about it as well, which pisses me off.

Try Bossy or Shock 39 in bangkok, thats a music club sort of thing, entry is i suppose 200 Bhat, with 1 beer free & you can pick up thai / russian girls from there for short time. Rooms are available on top of these clubs for 300-400 Baht. Lady would take ranging from 1500-2000 for short time.

C'mon, you can't leave us with half a story!

Either way, I wouldn't worry yourself too much about it. Just chalk it up to experience.

But you should have stuck to the 'below 5ft 7" rule'! It is very rare for a genetic Thai girl to be above this height.
Those LB's can have all kinds of op's done, but the big hands and feet are always give aways. Another thing is that Thai girls are really bad at is being coquettish or flirty, but LB's seem to be do it all the time and really well (think Marilyn Monroe type flirting). If their flirty in a Western style, chances are they are a Katoey. You might want to ask the Mamasan at the bar as to their true gender before you bar fine them. I've never done it, but I'm told that their Thai ID card will state the gender that they were born, therefore you can always ask to see their ID card before bar fining them.

Hope this helps and keep up the reporting.

Shouldn't the question be how rare is it for men to be below 5' 7"?

True words billybob always look at the hand's and feet they are the give away. With their I.D is also true by law it must state what gender they was when born .It's something the LB are fighting over now to get that rule change as office workers/cooks ect.. to even one of the leading business lady is in fact a LB but if that happens then all the prostitutes LB would use it to trick even more.

All this info was from ukliving show called ladyboys.

Sure there is the possibility of a short Thai transvestite guy passing themselves off as a Thai girl, but they would have to be a pretty convincing 'fem-boy'. Even then they would struggle to act like a Thai lady.

I've noticed that allot of LB's in Thailand are actually taller than Thai men. I guess that the estrogen / hormone supplements that they take during the transition also act a growth supplement. Added to that, LB's often wear heels, therefore the height is always my first alarm bell.

I will provide a narration of the experience in a few days. I am currently in Thailand again: Bangkok for 2 nights, then Pattaya 2 nights, then another 2 nights at Bangkok (or maybe Pattaya if I find that I enjoy myself).

To confirm: the 'ladies' were under 5'7'' and were very very convincing. I had some doubts but the smoking gun only came later when I read these:

http://www.sukhumvit-entertainment.com/ ... f-dancers/

http://www.sukhumvit-psycho.com/2011/06 ... a-bangkok/

I find it hard to determine the gender based on the size of hands and feet because there are a lot of real females here who have them large and strong. The foolproof way is probably to check the ID - although if it comes to that then it is likely that the mood has already gone for me. One method that now works for me is to check if their voice is too deep or overly whiny.

Still, I fucked them anyway.

yep thailand is something that has always interested me, although i think if i went "just" for mongering i'd head straight to pattaya. i've been a member of the pattaya-addicts.com board for a while now and some of the stuff i read on there is unbelievable!

the only thing stopping me going to thailand at the moment is the lack of money. i am saving up, though. pattaya seems pretty dangerous but it's a once in a life time thing, and it needs to be done!

Also check out barladies.com - lower-key, but Agent007, Undercover, all the guys are top notch. I've traveled down there and they're always around for advice, guiding and a fair share of partying. Just tell 'em Woofiee sent you, but beware - 007 doesn't suffer fools kindly. ;)

Airfare after the end of April drops nicely (RT from Amsterdam for around €500, should be even cheaper in the UK) and there are better hotel and guesthouse deals in the off-season (use booking.com). If you're headed to Bangkok or Pattaya then there's really not much of a season anyway. :D The rainy season kicks in gear around mid-July so there's a decent gap for fun. If it rains, it does so for an hour or so (often less) and that's it - just go inside any beer bar and enjoy yourself. For around 20-30 pounds can have a pretty fun night.

Seriously though..You can be there for 2-3 weeks for around €2500-€3000, including airfare, and live well. If you're not going to party every night with a new girl, even cheaper. And forget it being a once-in-a-lifetime thing; once you're there, you'll be thinking seriously of going back asap.

Just GO! If you have any questions, only ask..

Yeah I just join that site too. My old dream was Amsterdam but now it's Pattaya just saving up for it now. Just the plane ticket is the thing killing me at the moment will cost me under a grand to get there everything else is easy to get hotel price is fine I can get 4 nights at the ibis in pattaya for the price of 1 night in Amsterdam so it's no brainier for me.

Frankfurt and Pattaya this year for me.

I live near Amsterdam - tell me about it!

First, use Skyscanner.net and Kayak - between the two you can zoom in on a good period to go at any time. Skyscanner lets you look at the entire month at a time - if you're flying from Dublin, you can get there for 10 days for around €700:
http://www.skyscanner.ie/flights/dub/bkkt/130303/130314/airfares-from-dublin-to-bangkok-in-march-2013.html

Around €100 cheaper if you go a month later.

I've stayed at the Ibis, it's clean but the rooms are small, you have to pay for wifi and it's waaay at the other end of Second Road. For virtually the same price I like the Sabai Empress: http://www.booking.com/hotel/th/sabai-empress.en-gb.html
You get free wifi, larger rooms, breakfast buffet, a larger pool and in right next to the big Central Festival mall - also only a 5 minute walk to LK Metro, and 5 minute baht bus to Walking Street.

There you are - 10 days for around €1100, peak season - even includes Songkran. Go later in the season, save 10-20%.
