I just discovered that Hotmail has started blocking ALL of our registration confirmation emails. Everything was fine until around the 19th of this month, when they started blocking us. If you tried to register within the past three days with a hotmail or live.com account, you were most likely unsuccessful. Please try again using a different account. In the meantime, I'll follow up with our ISP and see if they know anything about this, given that the error I'm seeing in the bounce messages is, "contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list." Grrrrrrrr!

This also affects existing users with hotmail addresses. You will not receive any PM notifications, subscribed thread notifications etc via email right now, since we can't deliver the emails.

For the time being, I've barred new accounts from using a hotmail.com/co.uk or live.com email address in order to hopefully prevent anyone else wasting time trying to register with one. They get an error message advising them of the problem if they try to use one.

cheers for this update, bluto! i've been meaning to change away from hotmail for a long time as this problem seems to be a recurring theme with websites and forums all over the net.

Be careful... if/when you update your email address (User Control Panel->Profile->Edit account settings) here, the board will actually disable your account until you click on the confirmation link that gets sent to the new email address. So, if for whatever reason we can't send to the new email address either, you're a bit stuck... you'd have to contact me through the "Contact Us" link up top to get your account working again. I send emails through the server, so, if your email provider is blocking emails from the server's IP (as hotmail is doing right now), you might never get my response... but I will fix your account, either way.
