I'll be taking my first trip to Amsterdam Nov 20-26. As we'll be getting in sometime Sunday monring of the 20th, we'll be itching to get out and find things to do. I've heard that Amsterdam is a little sleepy on Sundays? True? Will there still be opportunity to find some fun? Are coffeeshops open on Sundays? Bars?

It's a normal day and better than Saturday. It's also easier to et a room.

Are you heading to the Cup? Just wondering.

I was in the Dam on a weekend 3 weeks ago. Sunday was my fave day of the trip. Not too many crowds compared to Saturday and most things seemed open.

Thanks for the replies.

Amstlover, as it worked out, it was just a wild coincidence that I'm going to be there during the Cup. I only discovered that it was going on yesterday when browsing the web for ideas for things to do. Have you been to the cup before? Something that a first timer should get involved in, or can we still have a good time otherwise?

You'll have a great time without going to the Cup, but it is a cool event to attend- though the price at $200 for a Judge's Pass can be a bit steep for some.
There are parties thrown in conjunction with it, and there are free samples from some of the CS to be found.
