Getting an early start on planning for a trip in the fall of 2012.

Normally don't start this early, but I have a few friends who want to visit The Netherlands and I'm thinking it might be fun to travel with a group for a change.

Looking to travel during what the airlines call the "shoulder season." More specifically somewhere during mid-September to Mid-October. Be there about ten days.

Going to look for an apartment to rent since it will likely be four of us.

This early on I'm looking for suggestions from the members if there is some event during that time frame that would make the trip better or worse. Things like a festival, holiday, big citywide party that we would want to visit. Or the flip side some huge annual convention that we would want to avoid.

just a bump of my own question...

That's a slow time in Amsterdam, but that also means less tourist. There is a large convention the first week of September that you'll miss anyway. There are not many festivals that time of the year. Amsterdam Dance Event is mid October. If you're into music, still early for fall concerts to be announced. Usually http://ticketmaster.nl sells tickets to the bigger events.

Right now we are looking at the middle of September through the first week of October. One of the guys is voting hard for earlier rather than later.
