Actually, this reminds me. Is there any particularly reason there's like 700 Argentinian steakhouses in Amsterdam? Been wondering about that. Don't mind it, it's kind of my default to stop in to one of them when I can't really think what I want to eat, just seems strange that there's so many of them.

I personally wouldn't pay that much more for a steak... Some of the Argentinian restaurants aren't too bad at all.

Well, I've had actual Kobe beef in Kobe, Japan. Quite expensive, I think it was around 60.00 for a three ounce steak, plus soup and rice. It was very good, melts in your mouth. If you've seen the meat raw, it has a ridiculous amount of marbelling. Apparently, it comes from cows that they keep in air conditioned barns, they feed them beer, give them massages, rub sake into their skin, and play them classical music. Japan is a strange place.
Anyway, Wagyu, from my understanding, is fake Kobe beef. It's beef from cows that were supposedly raised in a similar way to the ones in Kobe (though I doubt they feed them beer or any of that stuff) that they can't legally call Kobe beef, because it isn't from Kobe. I'm not sure how regulated it actually is, though, they sell frozen "Wagyu" beef burger patties for 12.99 for a box of 6 at the supermarket here, and they have Wagyu steaks in the butcher section for not that much more than regular cuts, so I'm somewhat skeptical. I kind of think the majority of so-called Wagyu beef is just regular old extra-fatty beef that unscrupulous restauranteurs pass off to gullible foodies. Might be different with the regulation in Europe, but in North America, at least, I wouldn't trust someone trying to sell me "Wagyu" as far as I could throw them.
