We will be arriving into Holland via ferry in Ijmuiden. I was wondering what the best way would be to get to our Hotel in Amsterdam. Is there a train or something cheaper then a Taxi that we can take? I know in America a 30 mile Taxi ride would cost us an arm and a leg, so if there's a bus or train we can take we'd rather...

Thanks again

Take the train. It leaves from the airport about every 10-15 minutes.MUCH cheaper than a taxi.

I think you're asking how to get from Ijmuiden to Amsterdam. If so, see http://www.world66.com/europe/netherlan ... ttingthere The Connexxion bus service refered to has a website at www.connexxion.nl but it's in Dutch only. Perhaps one of our Dutch friends can help you out with some details.

If you're coming in from Newcastle via the Stena line, they have buses waiting at the dock that take you right into town. It's probably the same for other ferries as well.

I think they charge a bit for them, but when I took the ferry we just got in line, boarded with everyone else, but no one ever asked for any money. Just about everyone will be going the same place, so join in with the crowd and you'll do just fine.

When I took the trip a few years back it was a lot of fun...just give yourselves plenty of time getting to the port in Newcastle...traffic late in the afternoon can be tough.

Enjoy!

Auston is correct, if its dfds seaways newcastle to amsterdam, you get a bus from the ferry terminal it drops you at the victoria hotel on the damrak, it cost 5 euro that was 2 years ago. The ferry is great bars, casinos ect. Prefer Easyjet now though.

Yup, that is the ferry we're taking. It's an overnight thing. I heard there is a free ferry from Ijmuden to Amsterdam, is this true? Either way, if there is a bus, we'll probably take that.

Thanks for the information guys. We are so excited about this trip it's not funny.
