First Time In Amsterdam

I'll be spending the weekend in Amsterdam. First time, I'd like to stay at a very nice hotel, but be near enough to the RDL (or does it matter, can I simpy jump in a cab to and from ).

Any recommendations??

click the link at the top of the page for all your hotel needs, any hotel on the damrak near central or near dam sq are all 5 mins walk from the main red light dist.

I always use the Ramada City Centre, book online for great deals. Also very close to the main action. Dont use cabs for anything, buy a day ticket for the trams - very economical and easy to uase.
