I am trying to rent a car for a week in February, and my usual (sixt) no longer offers unlimited milage. Paying for everything over 1000Km will get expensive. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try Easyjet.com also, try flying into Germany, and renting there through easyjet. it is hugely cheaper and budget airlines like Ryan Air and Easyjet also run very cheap flights there to Frankfurt Hahn and to Weeze, Cologne/Bonn.
