I reckon that the Rho just off Dam Sq and the Rokin (around the corner) are very good. Single room usually runs at about 70-80 Euro incl Breakfast. Both are fine, clean and quiet. However, outside the Rokin for the past number of months are road works of some sort and it can be very noisy early in the morning

BTW, the breakfast in the Rho is quite good

Having previously stayed at Radisson SAS, Renaisance & Holiday Inn,
I find the RHO ideally situated, much more friendly andexcellent value.
Can't beat it in my opinion.

My favorite hotel is the delta in damrak its a great location, just across the street from the grasshopper and the begining of the RLD, its only 55 euro a night for a single room

Also check out The Kap. It's got 40-50 Euro singles with a very good breakfast bufett.

Try The Avenue Hotel on Nieuwsijds Voorburgwal - runs parallel to Damrak and is 5 min walk from CS. 3 star hotel at 2 star prices. It's a bit hit & miss with regards to room size, but still good value in a central location. 2 mins from the Singel RLD & 5 mins from the Wallen.
