Coming to A-dam in Sept for two weeks. Can anyone tell me where there is a mall or store that would sell electric blankets. Came last year and the adapters didn't work and everything we plugged in got fried. Wife is a diabetic and its hard for her to sleep without the heat.

Thanks all for any info.

I would suggest Hema on the Nieuwendijk though you will have an easier time finding a heating pad. There are a couple of "housewares" stores on the Albert Cuyp market but you'll have to look for them as they are behind the stalls. You could also ask at a pharmacy when you are there. Good luck. Regards. Roland

Look on Kalverstraat. Vroom and Dreesmann has housewares. DeBijenkorf on Dam Square is also worth a look, although it will likely cost more.

Magna Plaza on NZ Voorburgwal, behind the Royal Palace is a shopping mall. Don't know what stores it has, but they're all under one roof.

One place that definately has them is the catalog-type store, Kijkshop. I bought one the end of last year. Kijkshop has several locations around the city. Check them out at http://www.kijkshop.nl/ Peace.

Your problem was that US voltage (110v) is different to Europe and most other places (220-240v) so a simple adapter to allow a US plug to fit a dutch socket is not enough. An alternative to buying equipment here in NL would be to bring something like this with you http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000 ... lectronics

Good luck

There is a Kijkshop on Ferdinand Bolstraat on the left hand side (going down) just past the Albert Cuyp market. Regards. Roland

I dropped by the Kijkshop on Ferdinand Bolstraat and it seems that electric blankets are a seasonal item in the shops, as the blanket was not in stock. Just thought I'd let you know before you make a trip out there. Peace.
